Right now I think it's something like $400 million.  So I'm going to buy a couple of tickets, and I already have everything planned just in case I actually win.

First of all, I'll try to keep the news to myself and try to  avoid being seen on TV and announced as the winner of all that money.
  I haven't decided if I would take all the money in one lump sum or in payments, but I do know I would use money to help only a very limited number of people like my son and my parents.

I live in a very small rural town so I'd have to quit my job and relocate.  So I would use some money for moving expenses and buying a new house.
  I've always been good at budgeting money so I'd put myself on a strict monthly allowance, and keep most of the money in the bank.  Since I already had so much money, I would be satisified and wouldn't make any risky investments, so I don't think my life would be ruined by sudden wealth.

Does anyone else have any plans?

In Canada a 400 million dollar win is exactly a 400 million dollar pay-day!!!  No taxes on lottery winnings here!

So based on that figure, in priority order. I've given this a great deal of thought.

1. I'd give my brother 20 million dollars so that he could pay off his debts and he and his girl friend could retire ($20,000,000);

2. I'd buy myself a moderate type of car, nothing fancy. Maybe a Honda of some kind.  (about $40,000)

3. I'd buy a 3 bedroom house (single story with a finished basement) and a nice sized yard (about $300,000 where I live);

4. I'd hire someone to do the yard work for me because I physically couldn't do it (about $6,000/year);

5. I'd quit my job and go to casual hours. But I would take 6 months off, then I would work 4 to 5 shifts every couple weeks;

6. I would give my sister-in-law (brother's ex-wfie) 10 million dollars ($10,000,000);

7. I would give my niece 5 million dollars ($5,000,000)

8. I would give my youngest nephew 5 million dollars ($5,000,000)

9. I would set up trust funds for my 2 great nephews and niece for their education (about $500,000)

10. I would set up a trust for my middle nephew  but it would have strict conditions attached! He has a problem with drinking, drugs and gambling. The trust would give him a monthly allowance for the rest of his life on the conditions:

- He submit to random drug testing for 10 years;

- show proof he has been attending alcoholic and gambling anonymous meetings;

- attend financial management classes twice a year.

The money would be forfeit if he was found to be gambling, drinking or using drugs;

10. I would give my best friend $2.5 million dollars ($2,500,000)

11. I would give my favourite Aunty $1,000,000 (She's in her 80's)  ($1,000,000)

That works out to about 55 million or so.

Next are my charities. Each would get 2 million a yer;

- Heart and Stroke

- Lung Association

- Winnipeg Humane Society

- No kill cat shelter

I would invest 300 million and live on the interest

And I would have a blast randomly giving the rest away, most likely to those I know or hear about who are going to school or wanting to go to school but having a difficult time affording it.

Plus I would work on establishing a cat health trust, working with my Vet's office and The Humane Society, to help off-set the cost of emergency vet bills for those who can show proof that they are in financial need. It would work on a "pay it forward" basis where the person would have to donate X number of hours at a shelter.

I would love to buy a house on the lake, 2 cars, take a trip and help my kids out.

My mother in law died in 1988 of breast cancer so I would like to donate  to the Cancer Society.

And also to the Nationwide Children's Hospital.cause long ago they helped my daughter.when she has a seizure and didn't wake up till the next day.But she is doing ok today and never had another one.

I'd quit work, buy a small farm out in the middle of nowhere and open a pet sanctuary. Also set up trust funds for the nieces and nephews.

For myself I would probably keep doing what I am doing.  My first instinct would be to quit work but I think I would just keep doing what I'm doing and plan for the rest of my life.  I would set up trust funds for the grandkid's education.  I have four now but I think there will probably be more.  Give money to charity.  I know I would give to St. Jude Children's Hospital.  Years ago when leukemia was considered a death sentence even for children they saved my cousin and his parents never got a bill for anything.  I would also give money to a couple of animal shelters.  I would also like to set up something to help deserving people with vet bills but I wouldn't want to administer it myself.  We have a large clinic here that is both an e-vet and speciality vets maybe something through them.  One night when I was there with Patches there was an elderly woman there with her dog and she didn't know how she was going to pay for it.  She was applying for Care Credit but she wasn't very hopeful.  If it hadn't been for my circumstances at the time I would've taken care of her bill for her.  I was in school at the time and didn't have a job lined up yet.  My vet is in a very wealthy part of town so I doubt there are too many people in real need of help going there.

And live happily ever after!

I'd pay my debt.

Quit my FT job, and keep my PT job to give me something to do.

Buy myself a nice condo of my dreams

Buy everyone a new car of their dreams

Pay for my sister's kitchen that she needs updated, badly.

Live off the interest in savings.

Build a fort with $100 bills.

I would pay off what little debt my husband and I have

Pay off my parents house and give them millions, they could live their lives without having to work if they so choose and could travel if they wanted, plus have plenty to retire on

Give my sister enough to get through school and live on her own for that time without worrying to work and go to school

Pay off my husbands brothers and mother's homes and enough for the nephews and niece to go to college

I would give a couple million to the family who adopted my sister's daughter

I would give a couple million to my half sister and her family

I would give a couple million to our vet, she is amazing and needs a bigger place and I know she'd use a lot of it on clients that can't afford certain things for their cats

I would buy two homes one on a large piece of property and the other within walking distance of a lot of shops and a train station as I hate to drive

I would pay my husbands way through helicopter flight school as we can't afford for him to go now

I'd give a couple million to my husbands aunts and uncle who've been struggling

I would donate a chunk to Best Friends animal sanctuary as they are working hard for animals large and small

I would donate a chunk to entomologist working in the area of tarantulas because they don't get much funding for their passion and spiders need more studying

I would travel to Asia among other places and along my way I would donate money to people in need

I'd have a big library room built in our home and fill it with manga and other books

I'd still take college classes and get a degree but I'd take other classes just so I could learn even if they weren't going towards my degree

There are a lot of little things I could do with it and I'm sure I'd think of other stuff along the way. . . In the big picture not much would go towards my husband and I as I'm not wanting like huge fancy houses or exotic cars or any of that. I'd spend a lot on traveling but not so much that I'd run through it, I'd stay in average hotels and not take first class. I'd put a large chunk of it back for safe keeping.

I think I'd end up with my second house in another country as I'm not to fond of this one in many ways, I'm not saying I hate it here I'd just like to live among another culture some of the time.

Set each of our four kids up, establish memorials for my son and my husband's son, who have passed away, give lots and lots to animal welfare and try to hide.

In New Jersey, you have to reveal yourself, so I would set things up before claiming the prize so I could disappear right away.  I had a friend who won about $500,000 and he was actually stalked once his identity was revealed.  Not pretty.  But, I guess with that much money, you could hide pretty effectively.

Start a fund to get cats s/n (owned and ferals)

Get a few houses and rent them out to others with more then a few cats

Buy a nice house with no issues and some land.  Put in a cat safe yard for them

Arrange for fresh step to make deliveries to my house!!!!!!!!  or pay someone to drop off a load.  I would be DONE going to store for litter!

Get some decent cars(both ours are from mid 90s and full of issues)

Buy Mom a house and take care of her and stepdad rest of life with all bills they have, also hire them a handyman for any needs they have.

I think I would go on a TNR spree!!! lol.

Give enough to sister and brother, also hold plenty for them down road.  get them both set in decent houses.  Actually would buy the one my sister rents as she loves it.

Buy my neighbors house too as they are so sweet and have been so helpful past few years.

Adopt a few kids.  I would love to get a sibling group that is hard to place.  but if cats made that not possible do IVF or something to have a few kids.  I really wanted 4 kids since I was young.

Wow.  I have no idea.  I'd like to say I'd save most of it, since I've heard that winning the lottery can make you depressed because you go through the money so fast and then suddenly don't know what to do without it.  I'd definitely travel though, during the summer, but I wouldn't quit my job.  I'd probably donate some of it, too.  There are a lot of organizations I wish I could support more.  Oh, and of course, I'd pay off my debt.  Probably get another cat, too.

Make a local no-kill shelter very happy.

Give money to our local animal hospital to help more with cats.

Set up trust funds/money for relatives.

Rick would want to give to his church.

Pay off our debt; we don't have much, but it's still there.

One of two things: I either want to open a bed-and-breakfast where people could bring their cats with them. Or I would like to open a bakery that just sold cookies, cupcakes, and the like. Maybe a bit of a tea room. I don't want to quit working....but I would like to be able to do something that would give me some pleasure instead of working for somebody else.

Other than that, I'm a fairly happy camper the way we are.

I love the idea of a bed-and-breakfast with the kitties!

We need a new car soon so would be a nicer one. We'd look to buy a little island with a house on it for when we want to get away. I'd also want to fund and set up no-kill shelters for kitties in rural Texas, there is great need there.

  1. Pay off my parents' mortgage and fund a comfortable retirement for them.  I still have all four grandparents so I would prepay their funeral expenses (morbid but necessary).
  2. Pay off all of our debt.
  3. Buy or build a home.
  4. Quit "career" work at go back to school full-time until I got my 4-yr degree and maybe some grad school under my belt.  During this time I'd probably work for fun at an animal rescue.
  5. Fund various charities and causes including science education organizations, cat rescues, marriage equality, and women's issues.
  6. Boyfriend would buy toy upon toy... including a couple boats, an RV for camping and music festivals, and cycling equipment.
  7. I'd buy toys too... my favorite car (Scion tC), kitchen and household stuff, and lots and lots of books!
  8. Whatever lot we would buy would be fairly large and I'd love to dedicate part of it to a cat sanctuary and hospice.
Most of what I would "buy" with the lotto winnings would be time.  Time to go back to school, time to travel and go to festivals, time to read, time to be more involved in animal rescue.  Time that I don't have because I work in order to eat... as most of us do here!

Part of me loves fantasizing about winning the lotto and part of me hates it... knowing that even making prudent financial decisions at my age (mid-20's) and increasing my earning potential over the coming years, I may enjoy a comfortable retirement but won't have the time to do the things I love.  Depressing!  LOL!

**Pay off my debt

*Buy a new car (never had a new one)

*Buy a house

*Furnish the house

*Get Angel all the senior (he's 9 I think) blood work he might need along w/ finally doing the allergy testing for him.

*Give my parents a good chunk of money

*same for my sister & her husband,

as well as some to a select couple of closest friends who have always been there for me, & one who has helped me in the past

*Set up a trust for my niece & nephew, but they couldn't get it until they were maybe 25 or 30.

(I want them to learn how to support themselves & work first) My nephew at 19 & already does, but my niece at 17 still has a lot of growing up to do!

*Oh, & lets not forget, a whole new wardrobe!!

**I would donate to local places, like the community Health center that I go to, because I don't have insurance & they do a sliding scale fee.

**I would also donate to a breast & cervical program a nurse there has because they helped me last month. I found 2 large (Only fibroid cyst thank GOD!) in my right breast, & they

took care of all the bills for it from the mammogram, to the ultrasound, to them being removed 3 wks. ago. (I qualified for the grant program because of my mom's breast cancer history, & my income.

And I'm sure I would think of many more!

I'd buy a large amount of property.... somewhere.  And start a cat sanctuary and hire the best cat lovers/vets I could find to help care for the hundreds of cats I'd save.

There is nothing in my life right now that I really need or want aside from getting my daughters into better cars.  So I'd just keep on with how I'm living, make no real changes but I'd do something significant to help the unwanted cats that just need a hand...
