My names Brittany and I'm a dog owner whose planning on getting my first kitten this year and just looking for information and trying to educate myself as much as possible before I get my kitten.

My dog is a Mini Poodle who is 8 and his name is Pepper. He's a phantom poodle, so black with silver markings. Here's a picture of him:

He's my baby and he's spoiled. I feed a raw diet and I'm pretty much crazy about being on top of his health and making sure he's eating right and that I'm doing everything I can right by him.

It will be the same for my future kitten. I'll be rescuing the kitten and it will be soon, by the end of the year most likely. I'm some what picky about what I want my kitten to look like. Either grey w/ white markings or orange w/ white markings but from what I've seen on petfinder that should be simple enough to find.

So yeah, that's pretty much it. I'll just be checking things out around here and preparing myself for the responsibility of a new kitten. Probably creating a couple of new threads with all the stupid questions you probably all get tired of answering lol :p

Hi Brittany and Pepper! Welcome to TCS. Good for you for doing some research first before getting your kitten. I know that I wish I had done the same, especially on feline nutrition. Have you seen the Articles section here? It's got some great general info on everything cat. Of course, if you have specific questions, please do feel free to start a new thread.

I'm a raw feeder myself. Have you seen the resources thread at the top of the Raw Feeding forum? http://www.thecatsite.com/t/240809/raw-feeding-resource-thread

Feeding raw to kittens is a little different from feeding dogs (depending on which model you use), so it would be good to read up on feeding raw to kittens. It's especially important to get the calcium to phosphorus balance correct.

Hi, welcome to TCS!  Pepper is a handsome gentleman.  I used to have an apricot poodle and really love the breed.  I look forward to seeing you on the boards and meeting the new kitten.

Welcome Brittany (great name, I have a grand daughter with the same spelling) and Pepper :)  New kittens are always fun (and exhausting)  You'll find 24/7 info here, lots of great articles and helpful people!  I'm a huge fan of Jackson Galaxy who is also a big believer in holistic living and raw diet.  It's far better for the cat... you can find info there as well.  Here is the link to his website http://jacksongalaxy.com/

Look forward to seeing your new family member!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Vball91: Thanks for the link. I'm sure I'll spend a lot of time on there going through the websites and trying to figure everything out. I feed premade to my dog but I know for cats it's a completely different situation with what they need in their diet. Also with teeth cleaning, from what I've read cats can easily have teeth problems so a real raw diet would obviously be more beneficial then premade for keeping teeth clean. That's something I've been really debating with myself about.

nurseangel: Thanks :). He's truly the best dog. I swear he is one of the few things that keep me sane lol.

colts4broncos: I absolutely love him and his show! He's such a funny guy, tough exterior but such a sweetheart lol.
