Good morning! And Happy Friday!

Do you live in the city or the country. Do you consider yourself urban, suburban, or rural?

We live in the country and we're very rural.

We can't walk down to a corner store for milk or bread, but a local grocery store is within a few miles.

We have a wide variety of animals that visit with us on a daily/nightly basis.

We're actually situated in the middle of two university towns, so there's a wide variety of very eclectic shops and restaurants in the area.

We're not right on top of our neighbors, but close enough to lend a hand when it's needed.

How about you?

I live in a town with about 2000 people, the town is one square mile in size and surrounded by corn fields, so I guess semi-rural? We have a drugstore, a grocery store, a Dollar General, Burger King, Subway, and Little Caesar's Pizza, a small greasy-spoon diner, a few bars, 4 gas stations, and the library is open 6 days a week (but only half-days on some of them). It's 30 miles from anywhere with real shopping, but that's not too bad.

We live in a small city of about 250,000. We live a few blocks from the downtown core. It's best for me to be within walking distance of shops and people otherwise I tend to keep to myself too much. If I'm living in the suburbs or rural areas, I feel isolated and get very anxious, so I can't live like that for extended periods.

We are very rural.  Our town is all of 126 people, IN town is 7 blocks by 9 blocks and the outer limits is a 2 miles square.  Nearest gallon of gas or gallon of milk is 8 miles away in any direction, we have a vet, a post office, 2 bars, 4 churches, a volunteer fire dept and a volunteer library.  Our entire county has 23,000 people.  Farmers run the county, growing mint, corn and soybeans...  It was a culture shock moving here from the south side of Chicago but I wouldn't go back to that crowded dirty life for anything in the world

Rural, but getting more and more suburban. The farm behind me is now a golf community.

Semi-rural/suburban. My town has a little less than 16,000. I live in a quiet area with a farm behind me and a golf course on one side.

I grew up country.  No phone lines country.  No address just a fire number country.  LOL!  I joined the military and got bounced around the world for 15 years.  What a trip it has been!  Then I joined the reserves to move back home.  INSTEAD I married an active duty military man.  Looks like another 18 yrs of bouncing for me.

Right now, El Paso.  Good food!  Love the weather!  Didn't speak spanish when I got here ... I will by time we move.

Next place: North Carolina!

Have always felt fortunate to have had the advantages of both worlds. We live on the SW edge of a metro area of about 3 million population. We can literally drive 20 minutes to the heart of downtown in one direction, or 15 minutes to beautiful rural mountain areas in the other.

We live in a small town with a laundry mat in front of our apartment. We have a  couple places to eat like a diner, a lake near by bank, hardware, and 1 gas station, and pharmacy, post office but that's about it.

I consider our home in the country; though I do have neighbors around.  When you look at aerial photos of this area you can tell our properties were sectioned off at the same time from the surrounding farmland.  Directly behind my house we can see horses in their pasture. Farther down the road is a stable that has quite a nice crop of foals every year.  We love watching them grow!  The people right across the street have a huge goat, chickens and a rooster that thinks he is "the stuff."
And a huge garden in front of the house.   The crop duster has been very busy over our area this week.  I love it here!  No big street lights; though we and neighbors keep outdoor lights on.  We do have deer nearby and the occasional fox too.  But my street does get some traffic because it leads to a bigger road.  We are only about 10 minutes in either direction from towns.  But it's QUIET here!  Most of the time!  We have neighbors; but we have privacy.  We don't have postage stamp yards or HOA's telling us what kind of fence we can have and what color lights to use at the holidays.

I don't consider myself a true country person; more suburban.  I like that I can get to Walmart or another grocery store with relative ease.  I'm a home-body; but I like to be able to leave when I want to too.  I like having hospitals and medical care, restaurants and shopping are just a short drive away.  I guess I'm somewhere between country and suburban.

I live in the country, surrounded by farm crops. We are so surrounded that you can't see our house now until you are in front of it. Corn everywhere.:lol3: There is nothing here. Well there is one church and one fire department. Other than that, just homes. When there is no corn, I can see the neighbors houses on both sides, down the road. We drive close to ten miles to the nearest small town.. When, we get there, there is a hardware store, couple lawyers offices, the county offices, Hardees, couple of banks etc. A little more driving puts us in front of the grocery store. I would call it all not rural, but very rural. We are so isolated that a person literally has to be coming to see us to get here. It is not on the way anywhere else.

I live in a south west suburb of Cleveland, OH. My heart is in the country, but due to my husband's disability it is necessary to live near the city hospitals. We have an apartment but there is a lot of woods and bike trails nearby that I am often on my electric scooter to enjoy.
It only takes about 15 minutes to get away from the metro squalor and if I ever I am free to do it, I would move to the country in a heartbeat! You might say I've been stuck in Cleveland waaaay too long... family obligations is the only thing keeping me here. My son attends a charter school down the street that he is excelling at, being a special needs kid. Hard to find those kinds of schools in the country.

It is my dream to one day have a place with some acres of land and a nice little house with a couple of horses...*sighing* Until then just got to bloom where I am planted! :)
