Good morning everyone. This is our first note on this great site and we are so happy we found you all!

Our Tootsie is a 7 year old "Himilayan" adopted when she was only a couple of months old. We got her to be a "friend" to our older "tortie" Skeezicks. Bad idea. They never really got along very well, with the older alpha cat pretty much intimidating the young new arrival. We lost our "Skeezicks" after almost 17 years and she was by far the most wonderful of kitty's we have ever know, including her little sister "Tootsie". Her loss was simply horrible even though she had lived a good and long life with us. Letting go always is hard for a member of the family.

Our difficulty with "Tootsie" actually began early on. She had a problem with using the litter bin she had all to herself, choosing to deposit her solid gifts on the rug in front of my bathroom sink instead of her box. We also discovered that she had several spots where she urinated and ruined not only the carpet but the baseboard adjacent to it!

Thanks to your site we now have an attack plan to alleviate her favorite spots and hopefully this nasty habit. If not, then we fear that she will have to be surrendered to the local no-kill shelter. When a pet cost you $ the tendency is to just stop the cause! Sad but true but we are hoping for better results with her orientation project.

Oh, I wish you luck with your plan, I do hope it works. Keep looking through the site for hints and tips and ask for help.

How long has Tootsie had the house to 'herself'?

Thanks for the good wishes on our plan. Tootsie has been "alone" for almost three years now and seems to have developed her own personality. When our tortie was around she kept a very low profile, not really engaging us like she does now.

Welcome to the site!

I am sorry to hear you have litter box issues with tootsie, there are many great things to try to fix her problem. One of the most important if you have not already is to use an enzyme cleaner wherever she has gone outside of the box. I don't know if you have tried but I had great success with using the brand of cat litter, Dr. Elseys Cat Attract.
