Recently I picked up a starving young-looking tortise shell cat who had hair loss on her sides, around the base of her tail, and was itching badly. I have a huge soft spot for rescuing animals that don't have a home (all of my cats and dogs have been rescued), so I fixed her up. These things included giving her flea medication and eat mite medication. The vet said she nervously licked her sides, which is why she was experiencing hair-loss there, because she was so happy to have a home and had never been around so many people before. Anyways, she's a surprisingly loving lap-cat who follows me around the house (most of my other rescued are stand-offish or skiddish and don't enjoy being held). But recently, even after a fairly expensive treatment for her ear mites, I noticed her itching her ears and her ears twitching back for no apparent reason.
It's the same behavior she had before the treatment. I cannot afford to take her back to the vet, it also stresses her out and she is a carrier of fLV (won't spread though, other cats eat separately and are vaccinated for it) so stress isn't good for her immune health.. Is there any home remedy I can use to help my kitty be more comfortable instead of itching her ears?
