Hello everyone. I was wondering if any of you could answer a question and help me with a problem I have. This is Grimlock, a male bombay. I have had him now for about 2 years. His appearance is closer to the modern burmese side rather than amercian shorthair. However, this has given him a very brachycephalic (flat face) head. I have never owned a brachycephalic cat before and did not know that cute flat face came with respiratory problems. He snores when he sleeps and snores when awake. It sounds like he is having trouble breathing. I have taken him to several vets who say its common with the breed and not to worry as long as he is not panting like a dog or his gums get cyanotic. Now I now when people get cyanotic and turn purple they are almost dead! I don't want to wait that long. Do any you have flat faced cats that snore all the time awake or asleep. He did not do this as a kitten. Of course it started as a small problem that got worse with age.

Hi and welcome to TCS! :wavey: Grimlock is a beautiful boy. Love those expressive eyes.

Hopefully someone who has owned a Bombay ora Persian can offer more advice. I know with the bracycephalic dogs that you have to control the air temps as much as possible and they suffer more in high humidity. Do you have good a/c in your home? Maybe this would help his breathing (if it's hot where you are).

Is he the least bit overweight?  (not in that picture, but he still looks like a kitten in that pix) I think Bombay's are prone to overeating if I'm not mistaken
Anyway,  I know my guy who snores sounds a bit that way and sounds a lot better now that he has lost some weight.

No. Not overweight and I keep it cool and usually run a humidifier. Vets told me my last cat was fine too, then she died!
Different problem but same situation.
