Hello all.

So here's a refresher before I get into asking ya'll for help...

Miballs is a stray cat who we took in and now he is the only feline resident at our house. He is around 6 or 7 years old and is used to being alone in the house since there are stray cats everywhere in our backyard and beyond. He is used to sleeping indoors at night because sometimes he gets into fights.

Fast forward...

RECENTLY, my dad bought home a puppy who obviously is hyper, hyper, hyper!

Since my parents have no previous exposure to raising cats, let alone cats and dogs...it's been stressful introducing them.
The new puppy is explorative and Miballs doesn't like that. He hissed at him today when I put the puppy on the floor to walk. What I am concerned about is having Miballs know that this is his house and have him not be afraid to come inside. I don't want him to sleep outside at night and I don't want him to think that he has to stay outside at all times now because of the pup. I also don't want him to not come home and be beaten up by the other stray cats outside. I don't know what to do.

I know the basics on how to introduce the two, but since Miballs is an "ex" stray and is still apprehensive about his surroundings, I'm not sure how to go about this.

Please if any of you have dealt with introducing a puppy to a indoor/outdoor "ex" stray, older cat...let me know.

Thank you!
