Hi everyone. Just introducing our former cat Jack (the black one) and Buddha the chocolate point. We've owned the chocolate point for around ten years now and when we moved into our first house last year we decided to pick her up a companion in the hopes that he would keep her company. Having had good experiences in the past with Himalayan cats and seeing how friendly he was at the Humane Society I decided to roll the dice. You could see him perk up when the staff went back in to take him out.

I'm kicking myself now though for throwing the towel in with him and I really regret it. He was a very affectionate cat that had a spraying problem and last week we surrendered him to the same shelter we got him at. The good news is that the staff  told us he was picked up fast by a family with kids, so he wasn't even at the shelter a week. I'm hoping they have a great relationship and give him the time and care he needs.

We put up with his spraying on hard surfaces, but he started to spray our brand new sofa. We then tried making him an outdoor cat during the daytime and would bring him in at night and keep him in our basement. But I got nervous about the cars on our street, and found him on the other side of the road one day. That week he spent outside during the day worked well with his spraying and we thought it might also be due to the two cats being separated, but once he was indoors 24/7 predominantly by himself, his stress got the better of him again and he began spraying again. This time near electrical strips.

If anyone reads on any forum about a Black Himalayan male cat about 8 years old with spraying problem in Pennsylvania, don't hesitate to tell them about me. I'd love to watch him if they go on vacation or even prevent him from going to the shelter again if they exhaust their patience.I never tried meds to help his problem and wish I had now that he is gone.

Hi, welcome to TCS.  I'm very sorry for the circumstances with Jack.  I know that must have been a very difficult decision.

Thank you for your condolences. It was, and on top of that I handled it extremely poorly. I really hope the shelter wasn't lying when they said he got adopted and I hope to see him again someday.

Bottom picture was his last night with us.
