I, personally, have never given a de-wormer to any of my cats because they have never needed them. If this is something you purchased over the counter, and there are no instructions on how often to give them, then I would call the 800 number on the package. If you got them from your Vet, then I would call the Vet and ask them.
From what I have read, it seems like one application is supposed to do the trick, however, as I said, I'm no expert.
Does your cat even go outside or have contact with cats or dogs that do? I don't worm indoor cats, and have only done so with dogs or indoor/outdoor cats a week or two before booster shots are due, and the wormer is from the vet. If I suspect worms, I take stool samples to the vet's.
He doesn't go out now but before I got him he had been. He had a few fleas for a while which were hard to get rid of as he was kind enough to share them with his sisters. I'm concerned about his not having quite enough belly on him. His weight is normal though so I may hold off on worm med. I haven't seen any more worms but they can be still in there. I was told after neutering the belly fills out so as I said I may wait.
Not all neutered cats get that sagging belly, and at one year he probably burns a lot of calories running around and playing.
If he was wormed after the flea problem was cleared up, it should be enough to take a stool specimen to the vet's office and have them check for worms and go from there.
If not, get some wormer from the vet and instructions on how much has to be given how many times. That'll depend on the brand given. I personally don't risk using OTC stuff, because there have been enough disasters, including deaths, caused by OTC flea treatments to make me shy away from the OTC
wormers.
