My cat had 3 beautiful healthy kittens. All was well. Unfortunately I wasn't aware she could get pregnant while nursing. Needless to say, she's about to POP!! The ?? I have is, what complications can this bring. She is absolutely huge( way more than before) also, she has been pregnant for a long time. I gotta try figure for sure but, I thought she was pregnant before I got married on may 11 well it now July 28 and no sign of labor. Kittens been active for weeks. U can see them move without having to touch her and like I said before, she's huge!!

One of my friends cats had kittens in the middle of march, went into heat when the kittens were 10 weeks old and just had a litter of 7 O_O.

she didn't have any issues at all. that's not to say there CAN'T be problems and if the pregnancies were quite close, the mother will be physically exhausted but if she is otherwise healthy/in good weight there should be an issue.

Good to hear she seems to be in labor since that was one concern.,  there is an increased risk of uterine inertia since her uterus did not have a chance to  recover its elasticity.

hopefully she  will have them now.   If it turns out this wasn't really the start of labor,  don't let it go past 70 days.  at that point get her to a vet to see if they can induce labor and  if that doesn't work she may need a cesarean section.

The lack of uterine elasticity could also cause more trouble for her in pushing the kittens out.

Having 2 litters this close can make the queen very run down.  so  what is most important is for her to be on good high protein, moderate-high fat,  low carb food , either kitten food or an 'all life stages' food.  and preferably mostly wet food ( cats already have a tendency not to drink enough ,   and with nursing there is more risk of her getting dehydrated.   so i feed mostly wet and even add a little warm water to the food.  Also of course keep fresh water available.

Might want to give her a little extra calcium when she is nursing too.

Sometimes it can happen that the next litter did not have enough nutrition because the mom was having to feed 2 litters at once .   and that can lead to low birth weights and not being very strong at the time of birth.    hopefully that won't happen. and if it does they often go on to be fine.    If you do get some low birth weight kittens you will just need to keep a close eye monitoring their weight and keep making sure they are nursing.

I'm not saying these things will happen,   but just that back to back litters increases some risks.

With any birth,  it's important to have a vet on call or know where the nearest 24 hour vet hospital is,  just in case there is a problem.

Now that you know  a cat can get pregnant even when nursing,   this time you know to be very very vigilant to keep her inside and away from tomcats  until she can be spayed,  when the kittens are around 8 weeks.    If she is a door darter,   I would keep 2 doors between her and the outside,   no matter how much she meows.

Hope everything goes well and she has a normal natural birth .

She still hasn't had them yet. She apparently lost the mucus plug a bit ago. Now she laying in her box resting and purring while laying on her back. Saw her shudder couple times but not constant... hope she has them soon.
