My cat is a really fast eater. When we first got him he had only been fed dry food but now he has 3 small wet pouches a day and a small amount of dry food to chomp as the vet advised it for his teeth. He gets fed the wet pouches at the same time every day.

He is a year old and has been sick a about 5 times in the year we have had him.

He had breakfast at 7am this morning and then at 12.30 this afternoon he was sick. It wasn't a lot of sick, two small lumps and some liquid. The food was barely digested and looked very much as it did when we got it out of the packet! When he has been sick before its always been more like clear liquid, so this is unusual.

What I am asking is should I be worried and rush him to the vet (I have a habit of panicking and rushing him to the vet for everything). I should add we are currently in the process of introducing a new cat to the house, although my cat Data has been curious about the newcomer and has been eating and acting normally otherwise.

Could it be that the wet food is poor quality or that he could have an allergy to one of the ingredients?

Any advice or suggestions would be gratefully received!

I'm wondering if the two small lumps were fur? If he is still eating, not losing weight, peeing and pooping normally, probably there is not too much to worry about as far as rushing to the vet.

I'm glad you have him on a wet diet, but you could examine the ingredients and possibly look for something better. Look for wet foods with no grains or fruits and veggies, try to avoid glutens and carrageenan. Chunks in gravy foods are generally higher in carbohydrates than pate (loaf) style.

Brushing him daily can help cut down on ingested fur, and adding some krill oil a few times a week may help, too.

Just so you know, dry food is not "good for a cat's teeth". :) So if you wanted to, you could eliminate the kibble entirely.

Welcome to TCS, and congratulations on your new family member! :wavey:

Thank you for your quick reply!

It was definitely the wet food in his sick. I researched the brand I use (felix) and found it is known for being full of rubbish. Since posting I've been reading up about the raw food diet, and have posted a new thread in the relevant forum.

Thank you for replying to my post :)

Oh goody! See you in the raw forums then! A raw diet has helped my cat with regurgitation issues a lot.
