HA HA..

.THAT IS A GOOD  PICTURE OF MY 2 YR. OLD Burmese,  petigred    female cat, kitty, named Bella (short for Annabelle, they said,) I rescued off Craigs list, when a 90 yr. old lady got too old to care for her.I fell for her photo  on  her daughter's phone;beautiful with big blue eyes. so much like a siamese, which i was looking but  Bella was elegant and beautiful.

 brown paper bags, eats treats, and loves petro-malt; she wants to play hard ALL THE TIME.!! She wears me out! ( I'm 65 and have feet problems)  but i do love to play.I love Bella.

I just wanta ask here " why is she sneezing very often?" since she came to live with me. Is my house  too dusty? I have a cement floor, and its hard to get dust out of an old house;

we live in "allergy valley,"  hot summer w/horrible pollen, smog, ragweed,
 grass seed burning, and every  green or growing thing ,plus SMOG of autos, like LA. all the humans get sinus infections,eye infections, get very sick, go to doctors, and  those who can, flee to the coast. --or stay indoors a lot. and wish for Fall.  this place reads like the movie "The Happening"; nature  is Killing us off.---and CARS TOO are getting us..
plus, the long country road next to us, got FASTER and MORE COMMUTERS,so we got GASOLINE ALLEY. YUCK.,
But my kitty is an in-door cat.
I get  the ailments above, badly. Do cats get allergies?  what should I do?I might get a "hepa-filter" at some point, an air-cleaner.What can I do about the sneezing? We do live an environmental mess, the Willamette Valley of Eugene Oregon. I can't move away.

THANKS!

First, welcome to TCS!
, and congratulations on your new cat!

Now, cats CAN have allergies, just like people.  And you can give them allergy pills, but only certain types.  Did you ask Bella's previous owners if she sneezed a lot before you took over care of her?  I would start there.  Did she live close to you (in the Willamette Valley) where all the same pollens, etc would be in the air?  It would be helpful to know whether or not she was already having these issues or not and how she was treated for it.

Did you get medical records along with Bella?  If not, it might be a good idea to get them, or at least get the name of her Vet if she had one, so you can get her medical history.   IF her previous owner says she never sneezed before or doesn't have any medical records,then I would suggest you have her looked at by a Vet just to make sure she doesn't have an upper respiratory infection going on and see whether or not it's ok to give her allergy pills, etc., and also have her nails trimmed.  They they can also show you HOW to give her pills, and HOW to trim her nails in the future.  OR, you could take her to a groomer to get this done and have them show you how to do it, but depending on costs, and how well Bella travels, it might be easier to do it all in one visit.

Just a FYI, cats will normally appear to be "grating" their nails.  I wish it were so easy as to put out a piece of sandpaper and have them file them themselves.
  But that's not what they are really doing.  They are actually sharpening their claws, not trying to file them down.  Plus, depending on what else they are doing, they might be marking territory, expressing anxiety, showing frustration, etc. while they are clawing away.  You probably need to get yourself a scratchng post or two, or even one of those cardboard scatchers.  We've got both horizontal and vertical scatching surfaces, and they all get used.
