Awwww, sweet babies!

I live on the central coast of California and can't imagine living anywhere else!  How are you adapting to Texas?

Deb,   hi!   welcome,  I just "saw" you on another thread earlier today.

Your kitties are all beautiful!  'Siena especially is stunning!

I too have a great love for Siamese,   Sia-moggies and  other pointed cats,  and  I have had some of each.

In fact   I have had 2 cats adopted from Texas Siamese Rescue ( a long time ago).

The 2nd of them, my beloved
 Louis
went to the Bridge last year.   He was an absolutely extraordinary cat.  I love him so much and still miss him so much.    Your handsome Ming looks a bit like him.   :)

Hi Betsy ~  I never imagined in a million years that I would ever leave California... but sadly, the economy vs. my finances basically drove me out. You being so close to Santa Clara County, you most likely see the news or read in the papers about the high rents, lack of jobs, etc. all around 'Silicon Valley' (most recently, I lived where Milpitas, Santa Clara & San Jose collide - think Hwy 237, just behind Great America & whre they are building the new 49er stadium).

I've been in north TX since February 2012... and mostly have been loving it. I had spent time here before, visiting one of my best friends & checking out the surrounding cities and such, so I knew what I was getting myself into. It's nice here... sure it gets hot, but not as bad as I imagined - only when the humidity gets fairly obscene do I suffer to any degree. Funnier still is that I was in CA for 52+ years, and never ONCE experienced a "white Christmas"....  then I move here - and wake up this past Christmas Day to THIS, lol!:

Homesickness gets me now & then, I do miss friends/family and hope to be able to get a visit back there in the near future. But... for the most part, I guess I am officially a "transplanted Texan" now!

Oh yes, I know the area.  Not too far from me here in Monterey.  There were some rough financial times--we're in the building industries, hubby is a general contractor and I'm a draftsperson for a surveying company so things got veeerrrry slow work-wise here for awhile! It's picking up some now.

Yeah, a white Christmas is something I've never experienced....it's okay, though.  LOL  I was raised in southern CA and then migrated up here to the central coast.

Sounds like you're getting used to your new environs.  Cool.  :-)

Aha! I *thought* your user name sounded kinda long-ago familiar!  You used to post on the SICC boards, I remember when your Louis once was very ill in the hospital, and you were so worried about him... so sorry to hear that he had to leave you, he sounds like he was very special.

You must've adopted from "us" back when Tonja was still the director... she passed on 2 years ago, and the gals who took over Meezer Ranch have done an incredible job - they're part of the reason I moved to TX from CA in the first place!

Oh hi!

Yes I got  my wonderful Louis
back in 1999 .   He was probably around 2 years old at the time.   His SR number was i think in the 50s.   How great that they have now rehomed over 7000 cats at just that Siamese Rescue.

I did hear Tonja had passed.   I'm glad to hear that folks have done such a great job with the Meezer Ranch.  Thanks for your work helping the cats.

I often tell people about Siamese Rescue.    and   I used to bring Louis along to shows when I was showing his friend Sammy.   and I made a little sign for Louis saying he was adopted from Siamese Rescue.

Louis recovered from that near death experience a few years ago.   I think that was back when he had DKA, pancreatitis, liver damage and a UTI all at the same time.    He was hospitalized a few other times.   He used to amaze the vets with what a ' fighter' he was ( as in fighting to survive).  He loved life and had an amazing will to live.

But he finally got cancer.  They had suspected he might have cancer,  could not find it for sure.   so I hoped he did not have that;  by the time we realized he actually did,  it had become very aggressive.

I don't know why I quit posting on SICC...    just got busy , and did not keep up with some forums. People were very nice there.   Extremely kind and maybe their prayers and thoughts and singing for Louis helped him survive a few more years.

Nice to see you here.
