I am studying to be a vet tech, & so anytime I see any type of animal I try my best to help & learn the most I can about it. I have never owned a cat, my mother is allergic, & so this is new to me. My grandmother loves cats & feeds five strays that stick around her house. One of them recently had four kittens. We have been watching out for the toms & making sure she is fed more since she has become skinny from feeding the babies. She has them under a bush & we haven't moved them because we figured she knew best where to put them than we did. But I just woke up from rain & was worried. Will she move the kittens when it rains or should I be worried that they are drowning. :(

What you do depends on what you can and want to do.

They probably wont drown unless the mom very young and unexperienced.  OR it is raining really hard and much.

But this situation as whole is not optimal, as you surely understand.

The optimal is you take the mom and her kittens in!  You dont need to have any fancy extra rooms.

Most resuers has their protegées in their bathroom, at least to begin with.

Or perhaps in a bid dog cage, and this dog cage they can have in their cellar, if their grandma is allergic.

This way you make sure you can foster the kittens into nice socialized kittens, and they are easy to adopt out.  You breake of the semi-feral homeless cat circuit.

With a little luck you perhaps manage to socialize the mom too at the same time, so even she can be adopted, as an outside/inside cat perhaps. Or even as an inside cat.

If you buy this idea, we will guide you in following posts, step for step.

Second. You and grandma giving them food is nice and well, but it will not become excellent before you also do spay / neuter them all!   Compare also on the TNR idea.

If you yourself dont afford, there is suely some rescue or TNR group nearby.  You can cooperate with them.

In some places there is for example an terrfic good organisation called Fix Nation...

Good luck!
