Our little mackeral tabby is 12 weeks old. We got him from NOAH, a shelter in Stanwood, WA. (See http://newkitten2013.weebly.com/)

(I'm a cat-care volunteer for WAIF, a Whidbey Island (WA) shelter that in some sense is a rival to NOAH, but hey -- it's one more kitten off the street and out of a shelter, right?)

Anyway, Bongo is a sweet boy, super energetic and playful. Yet he sleeps between us, at our heads, every night, and wakes us up by licking our noses. He has proved very adaptable and easygoing.

He will be a spoiled kitty that has all the care and love he can use. I'm a fretful first-time kitty father, with all the bizarre worries that entails. We already built him the Trump Tower of kitty play areas (only $110 at Amazon), and we may put in a cat door leading to a tunnel leading to an enclosed play space outside. We'll see about that. Or we'll walk him on a harness and leash, as we did with our late, great Bart, a tuxedo who died of kidney failure in April (http://bart-rip.weebly.com/).

We're mixing raw and canned food. He also has dry food, which he doesn't much care about. He eats voraciously, pees a lot and poops some but not enough to make me happy. I know high-protein food produces smaller poops, because more is absorbed, but he'll go days without a poop. I've started giving him some laxative to help a bit but I'm not sure I want to make a habit of that. Any advice welcome.

Anyway -- I look forward to checking this site often for advice and camaraderie.
