I know this is a cat site but I had to vent here. My daughter took Jasmine to the vet today and Jasmine only has 3 -4 weeks to live. She has lost weight and is now totally blind in both eyes.

Jasmine is a Rott and is 8 years old. She will be lucky to live 2 months.She will be missed and the grandkids will be heartbroken. They are away right now and haven't heard the news but will be back Friday. Poor Jazzy.

I'm sorry about Jasmine, my deepest condolences. Dogs and cats are just as important to some of us as the people we love and just as hard to lose. I hope the girl doesn't suffer and that your family can help each other work through it.

Thanks Jasmine had hip problems and was hurting till she became blind but not in any pain now. But she is running into things and knows the way around her home. I will keep you updated as I can. Thanks again for your concern.

Our daughters dog is slowly slipping away. Yesterday she didn't eat but today she ate some pork chops and drank some water but not much. They took a picture of her and she was just laying there but still breathing. I will miss her very much. Bailey the other dog will be beside herself.and probably howl all night after losing ''her sister''. So sad. But until that happens my grandkids will make her comfortable as possible.And I hope someone will be there with Jazzy when the time comes.

Update on Jasmine;;;

She was taken back to the vet cause the sore on her  neck was seeping blood. It now has healed and Jasmine has not given up. Sometimes she will eat and have a very good day but then she has her bad days too.

Thanks all for the concern.

Ups and downs are tricky, but at least some good spots occured, like eating.

Hang in there, and we will be here for you when you need it!

another update' on Jasmine;

 I think she is slipping away. The other day she peed herself and was bleeding . My daughter gave her a bath and went to the vet to get her pain pills. I am very surprised Jasmine held on this long. When I first posted to tell everyone about  Jazzy, the vet said she had weeks to live. Jazzy'z birthday is at the end of this month and she will be 9. Let's hope she males it till  then.  She is a strong Rott.

I'm so sorry to hear about Jasmine. She sounds like a wonderful dog, and obviously has a wonderful family. I hope she pulls through a while longer!

I hate to say this but Jasmine died this morning.some time between 7;30am-11;30am.  She was up & alive this morning by 7;30 when my daughter left for work. She woke up my grandson and told him to give Jasmine her pill before 12pm. My grandson didn't wake up till 11;30 and by that time Jasmine passed away. My grandson called me and because our car is broken down we couldn't go over to the house but he got ahold of his mom at work and she came house. Jasmine didn't make it to her next birthday (end of this month).

She was more than ''granddog"" like I said. I was there when they got Jasmine as a puppy. Cute small wiggling rear (Rotts have no tail) I will always have a place in my heart for Jazzy.

My son in law will be burying Jasmine in the back yard where we can go and visit  & pay our respects.

Love u Jazzy

Thanks Draco

 I've been crying all day.My granddaughter is so torn up. Bailey and Hunter have been lying beside Jasmine all day. Bailey knows that her ''sister'' is gone and things will be different now.But with Hunter (new dog) Bailey will come around.

thought i would post a reply came across this thread on a unrelated google

I lost a female rott to cancer last year

if you have a female that is NOT spayed especially if she has had puppies and is over the age of 6 get her fixed ASAP cancer is 5X more likely in unspayed older Rotties  we have lost 2 females to cancer it never gets any easier the one before was also named  Jasmine :)
