I opened a can of Wellness Core today and found a milky or fatty looking film on the top. As well, a small portion had a dark area. I've feed the Wellness regular line before, but very little experience with the Core line. Can someone tell me if the film and dark area is normal? The flavor is beef, venison and lamb.

Thanks.

The milky or fatty looking bit is just that - fat... It will turn white when it's cooler or more solid.

I can't really tell with the black bit.

We don't have the Core range.. not that I've seen anyway.. but I've just given away my Wellness canned stock as my two won't touch it.

Gosh, I have been looking for THAT specific Wellness Core (beef, venison, lamb) for over a month now and nobody around here carries it.  Where'd you find it?  I'm looking for one single can to see how my little miss picky likes it
Think I've been to about 8 different local stores, AND searched the internet for single cans (at places where I was making additional purchases already).  So far, no luck.

Additionally, it looks fine to me, but it's really hard to tell from the pictures.  Is the first picture the dark area, or is the dark area those 2 spots that look almost like drops of liquid on either side of the "bump" on the first picture?

Well, BAH! I figured better safe than sorry and threw it out just before I went to the computer and got to your post!!! If you imagine a "nose" in the first picture in the middle of the cat food, the dark areas are the "eyes" to either side. Yeah, it is kinda hard to see. It was charcoal gray, though, and nothing else in the food was that dark.

I got it at Petco, and I believe I've seen it elsewhere. But I live in Long Beach, CA, which is included in the Los Angeles area, population 3.65 million. If you can't find it, send me a PM. I see you live in AZ, so I could send you a single can if you reimburse me for food and postage. It will probably be able to go first class mail, so it wouldn't be too expensive.

I see the face. It looks like a bunny with short floppy ears.

Thanks for info that you got it at Petco.  I am very familiar with California (was born there
), and figured since it's right next door to where I now live, maybe you bought it a store that is also over here, and sure enough, we have Petco here.  I will have to ask them if they will order me a can, since they DO sell Wellness Core, just haven't ever seen that particular flavor and it has some properties that I am looking for (high protein, high fat, lowish carbs, and low phosphorus).
