I had three feral kittens that I have fostered since they were 3 1/2 weeks old; they are now eight weeks old and ready for forever homes. I need to find those homes.

On Friday the 12th, I caught three kittens across the street and took them to the vet.  They needed Clavamox and eye drops.  The kitten I was really concerned about I caught Saturday morning and took to the vet.  He needed fluids and the same treatment but will be blind in his left eye.  All seven kittens are boys and from eight to ten weeks old from different litters. The last kitten who I call Little Bit, as he is so tiny, was constipated on the 18th,so off to the vet.  Poor kitty had to have an enema and I was told to cut back on the feeding. Again, on the 20th, Little Bit had to go to the vet as he was plugged up.  This time, another enema, along with "poop" medicine three times a day and no dry food, just canned. I feed both dry kitten food and canned after weening.  But he is perking along.

Because I live  in an area with so many feral cats, Fix Nation along with Best Friends are coming out to trap in my area in Los Angeles, CA. I am thrilled.  I probably trapped 15 cats and took them to the vet for shots, neutering and release  (going broke!) prior to discovering Fix Nation that neuters, gives shots, and ear tips for free. If you live in Los Angeles, look them up at www.fixnation.org.  Wonderful group.  So that has been my last few weeks.....

About the constipation...  Do you try with some gimmicks for it?

A standard tip is crushed pumpkin, unflavored.  They sell it canned, but I imagine it is possible to make it yourself...

Another tip is to give cat malt, which is solved in liquid paraffine...

If you dont like liquid paraffine / petrol jelly by any reason, you can try with a couple of drops of some nice food oil.

Lucky you did found this  Fix Nation!

Tx for your working with this grand quest!

Good luck!

Good tips.  I use canned pumpkin on an adult indoor cat with loose stools but never heard the other hints.  Thanks.

Yes, canned crushed pumpkin works on both loose and constipation, however funny it sounds.

Begin with a smaller dose if you arent sure on the dose.  If it not helps, make it a little bigger.

Making sure he drinks much fluids / water is also some help.

Good luck!
