Hi there.

So I've got these two cats, Wally and Tucker.  They're very healthy indoor cats who I've had since they were eight weeks old.  They're a little over two years old now.

I got them from my mother in law.  I always assumed they'd been vaccinated.  However, I was just talking to her on the phone, and I mentioned something about getting the vaccination records for them.  She says, "Oh, yeah, I don't do that.  It's bad for cats."

Well, I'm planning to move to Oregon, and we're gonna have a yard, and the cats are gonna be indoor/outdoor.  So I need to get these boys vaccinated.  I've researched what kinds of vaccines kittens need.  But my question is, do my cats need anything special since they're already two years old?  Like, extra vaccines, or one or two omitted because they only work on kittens, etc?

Basically, should I get my two year old cats the full battery of vaccines?

absolutely get them vaccinated. they may come in contact with other cats if you let them outside so you want them to get rabies vaccines for sure every 2 years, and then their annual fvrcp vaccine. you also will want to get them dewormed regularly since they might eat grass and other things that may contain little pests. and don't forget flea and tick meds. this is all just because you mentioned them going outside, if they stay inside, just need the rabies once and the annual vaccine. but i'm not a vet so you might want to contact one and see what they recommend, i'm just going off of my own experience with recently having my older cat vaccinated for the first time.

Thank you so much.  I've never had un-vaccinated cats before.  Now I won't be able to sleep until I get them vaccinated, thinking every time meow or scratch that it's a disease.

I'll take 'em to the vet this week.
