Friend's dog with bloody stool

A friend took his beagle dog to the emergency vet last night at 1:30 am. It was pooping only blood. Has been lethargic the past two days, not eating.


Vet ran some tests to check for known pests, bacteria, but nothing showed up. Xrays were normal too.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to answer this thread.  The only thing I could think of was a bad parasite or infection.  Then  I thought - maybe poison? What happened to the pup?

Some type of bacterial infection.  Beagle is much better now  ;-)
