About two months ago, I moved and had to leave some ferals I was caring for behind.  My neighbor lets them stay in his garage (leaves the door cracked) and checks the feeder and water when he thinks of it but he travels a lot and is not there much.  I tried to enlist some other neighbors to help but am not sure how reliable they are so I have been trying to get back every few weeks to check on the cats (I live about 30 miles away now).  Two of the cats are fixed and have been there for 8 years or more and they look fine.  However, the other one is a black tom that showed up about 4 months before I moved and I didn't get him trapped.  Last time I was over, it looked like his back foot had been injured (probably bitten in a fight) and it was puffy and oozy.  If I give him some wet food, I could probably get close enough to spray something on his foot but that is about all he would let me do.  Is there anything appropriate for me to use?  I don't want something that would make him sick if he licked it.

I don't know of any spray.  But I do know you can get flavored antiobiotic liquids, such as Clavamox.  There is also an antibiotic pill that is flavored (don't know the name).

If you work with a vet, he might be willing to prescribe it without seeing the cat.
