Pregnant cat with very few symptoms?

I know my pretty girl is pregnant and I know when she went in to heat. The only symptoms she has is the nipples getting big and pinking then her big belly. She hasn't been sick, she still eats her normal amount, she still jumps all over the place like a mad woman and I can't feel the babies moving. She should be due in two days by my estimation, and I gave a few extra days from the day she went into heat. I didn't mean for her to become pregnant, she was in heat and I went to take her to the vets but when I opened the door she ran off. I've dealt with pregnant dogs but never a cat. She's the first female I've owned. Is it normal? How long do I wait before taking her to the vet?

The waiting game is a "favorite" pastime of our forumists.  So a couple of days extra as such dont seems to be worrying if mom is entirely OK.

The problem here is you dont feel the kittens.  Normally they are felt from about 2 weeks before the delivery.   Begin counting the days of pregnancy from when she mated.  Which should be the day when she got out while being in heat.   Add 65 days, and you have a rough measure, with this 2 week of kitten movement as an extra support point.

It depends also somewhat, on how used with palpating you are, and how regularly you felt through her tummy.  Did you felt tummy daily, or just now and then perhaps once a week?

HAD you felt the kittens move earlier?  If so, they can have already wandered down, so now they are felt less.  And you must also feel them further down, not in their old positions.

If you had never felt them kittens move, it is probably a false pregnancy.

If you decide on a vet check up now, so avoid the x-ray! Ultrasound and or a good palpating by an experienced vet is as good, cheaper, and have no risks.

To be frank, in some variations a vet check up may be the wisest here:  if it is not a pregnancy...

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply! I did feel what I think was a kitty moving in her about a week ago but it was a very light movment. She spends all day sleeping and likes to be awake later in the evening when it's just her and I awake and she loves a good belly rub. If she hasn't gone in to labor by Monday I'll be taking her to the vet.

So she's acting a little off now and keeps meowing while walking around. Could this be the start? I have her closed off in the basement with her box, food, water and her liter box close by and I've made It nice and dark by blocking the area with some boxes.

Oh, and I could feel the kittens move in her belly! They feel pretty low down but I don't know where they should be in her tummy so that could be normal. How often should I check on her? I don't want to bother her or distract her. Thank!

Excellent, so we know it IS a pregnancy, and not something else.  We may possibly be unsafe on when it really occured.

How often to check depends on what you mean.  And on how shy / touchy she is.

And how you do it.

Lets say, normal look over, including pet, as often you can. Feeling over tummy etc, at least once a day.

Temperature measuring in the ear or armpit can also be done quite frequently at least daily, in the behind rather not - stressing.

Here a memory arises.  Two different check up.

1. A vet surely skilled, but also rather rough.   Both cat and owner knew he was examined.

2.  A vet who seemingly held this same young tom like in some petting while hearing on the heart, but what he really did, was simultaneously a check up, including palpating of the tummy.   Im sure this cat was believing the vet just did some cuddling with him...   :)     I realized this only because I looked sharply on, and analyzed.

Good luck!

I've just been randomly checking on her to make sure she's doing well and not stressed out. She is a very loving cat so whenever I'm near she starts rubbing all over me. Her teats look waxy kind of but no fullness underneith. She's been licking her belly and vagina a lot but other then that, nothing new. She's due today but if nothing happens by Monday then I'm going to take her to the vet and see what they say. But good news! I have two family members that will each take a kitten or two so I know they're going to good homes! That's my biggest fear, I don't want to send them to someone that won't love and care for them. Thanks for all your help! I'll probably have more questions though! Lol

Milk is often coming in very late, first in combination with the delivery or shortly (hours) after the delivery.

Luck is milk dont coming in at all is very seldom.

These waxy teats sounds good, as her eager licking of parts in question.

So as now, we can say everything is looking according to the plan.

Good luck!:

Cynder had her kittens yesterday! I have no idea how to tell male or female but she had 4 live births and all within about 2 1/2 hours. One came breach and three head first, the breach scared me then when the fourth kitten came its placenta didnt come out with it right away. I though either twin or stuck so I waited to see if we needed the vet. About 5-10 minutes later the placenta came out. She cleaned them all and got them right to feeding.

The one that looks like the mama is the one we're keeping. Two orange ones will go to my mom and the last one will either stay here or go to my dad.
