A very happy ending for a semi-feral :)

This fella was my very first TNR... I trapped and had him neutered on June 19th.  He is the Daddy cat from my colony.   I was unable to catch the Mama and kittens at the time...I will be getting them soon.

The funny thing was that when I went to release him the day following his surgery,  he didn't bolt like I thought he was going to.   He walked out of the trap, rolled around on the grass and came over and nuzzled my legs.   The Mama & 2 kittens were over in the next yard watching and they came out to greet him as he walked away from me over to them.   Over the past month...he started coming more regularly to my feeding station...often with the kittens.   I discovered that he enjoyed being petted and then realized that he must have been owned at some point in his life.   The vet at Operation Pets determined that he is 1-1/2 years old, very muscular and in good shape.

Now for the happy ending... my daughter and her boyfriend were here last week visiting from out of state.   They fell in love with him and took him home.  This friendly guy now has a good home and he is loving it... and he will never have to spend another upstate NY winter outside.

Here he is - loving life now....

He is just like the way my former feral Dolly is.

Dolly was the most friendliest cat in the colony outside of my place. She was born as a feral in May 2012. Whenever I'd feed them, Dolly was always the one to come right up to me for the food. I'd leave my rear door open and she'd make herself comfy on the living room sofa before leaving just before I'd close the door.

Once I got her TNR, she became my sweet heart at home.

Thanks for posting this nice story.  I am glad he found a good home.  Good luck with catching the mom and kittens!
