Just had to vent! We fill a prescription for Paul thru a Canadian pharmacy. Of course save a lot of money on this so it's well worth it. Called last week to renew the prescription and they told us it is expired so we need a new prescription. no problem - called the doctor's office and they supposedly faxed the prescription last Friday. Called on Monday and they say they never received it. Called dr again and they said they would re-fax it. Yesterday they still didn't have it so I called again and asked the dr to e-mail it to me and send me a hard copy. Called Canada today and they finally received the prescription but the dr failed to put a date on it so it is not valid. Spoke to a supervisor and they definitely need a date. Said the dr could e-mail it. Called dr a while ago and now they say they don't do e-mails (of course they never told me that yesterday.) Now they are going to re-fax it again with the date (hopefully). It takes 24 hrs from then Canada receives the prescription to process it. The supervisor I spoke to said she'd check later and if it is received she'll call me (at least she tried to help). If not I have to call again tomorrow afternoon and HOPEFULLY they will have the prescription with the date on it. So frustrating!!

Sheesh! What a headache!

I hear a lot about people in the US getting medications either through a Canadian online pharmacy, or driving into Canada to fill their prescriptions at a pharmacy in person.

Our medications here are so expensive!  If you guys think it's cheaper to get medications here than there, I would really hate to see the prices of your drugs there.

And Canadian online pharmacies are even more expensive than our local pharmacies. I've looked up the prices of my medications in an online pharmacy for Canada the prices were nearly double what I pay at Safeway, and I find what I pay at Safeway to be pretty darn expensive!  One month of my blood pressure medication is over $50.  One month of my diabetes medication called "Metformin" is almost $25.  My arthritis medication is almost $100 per month.

You just reminded me why I don't miss working!  I was working in a medical office before my kids were born.  It's amazing the faxes that vanish into thin air!

I just paid about $55 for 3 things last week.  An antihistamine that was only $10.  But ear drops and a nasal spray cost me the rest of it.  I've found that any kind of drop medication seems to cost the most.  My eye doctor once prescribed me some drops that my insurance didn't cover.  This TINY bottle cost me $65.  I didn't refill!!  Turned out I didn't need to stay on it either fortunately!

Oh man do I hear you!  I went to my usual pharmacy to pick up two meds, one that I was out of as of that day, for my blood pressure.  The pharmacist handed me one med and said "Oh we don't have any of your... and we can't get it right now.  We've been ordering it every day but never get any."  I think my mouth fell open, as I said, but I am now out..when will you have some?  He suggested I call my dr to 1) ask for samples or 2) for a new med to be prescribed (not going to happen, I reacted to the med previous to this one, and have done well on this one for years..I don't want to change!).
I was lucky enough to find another pharmacy that had it in stock, and they got the prescription transferred over for me.
I do buy a med for my oldest kitty via a Canadian pharmacy online - they just emailed me a request to sign a petition as an organization in the the US may be trying to prevent americans from buying drugs from online, non-us pharmacies :(  Here is a link for more information

Update: Global Pharmacy Canada received the prescription and they are processing it - finally! Don't know why dr's office sent it without a date!
Only hitch is that the Pharmacy now switching credit card providers so at this time they couldn't process my Master Card. Will be able to when they switch providers, but said I could mail them a check. Gave me a slight discount for the inconvenience. Orfder takes 2 weeks, but they put it thru yesteday and we should get it in 2 weeks.
