Well it feels like ages sense I've been on here! :D If anyone remembers I'm the crazy lady who had Snowbell and Duchess. They kittened in March. I just got a new rescue today and she isn't named yet. Very pregnant this one! Baby's are moving and belly looks heavy the poor dear! She is a big girl anyway, blue eyed Torbie. We ended up keeping Thunder which I'll put a picture of her up, or try anyway :) So more kittens at my place sooner rather then later this time around!

Well momma cat fooled me tonight with some open mouth panting :) none of the other cats in the house were doing it, and so I moved her to my bathroom where it is cooler. She stopped panting, drank some cool water and is enjoying the bathroom floor. So much for kittens tonight, poor thing was just hot :) The kids picked a name for her, but I can never remember it. It's the female water bender from the Avatar cartoon they love :)

Update :) our now nameless Queen number three silently gave birth to seven kittens! t took less then three hours and we all missed it. One was deformed and dead when I found the litter. The six left are doing well, mum to. There looks to be two all white, two torbie, one tortie and one blue and white. But I have not touch them yet or seen he kittens in the light. I will check in the morning. I have not had this Queen long and she almost took my arm off when I counted them :)!! So I'm letting her be for now! I took in a fourth queen, but she miscarried two kittens and my vet kept her :) I will try to get some pictures up but so far have been unable to :(

Glad to hear the mum and 6 kittens are fine.   I guess since she did not know you long she just decided to get on with things herself.

Sorry about the deformed dead kitten (just as well if it was stillborn if it was so deformed it might have suffered)  and about the other queen's miscarriage.   hope she is doing OK.

DId you manage to get the fleas under control?

Well mum and babies are still fine today. She is fine with me watching and I have noticed all the kittens latched and loading so I left them alone again today. I will start weights tomorrow and see how things are. I was right in most of the coloring except one. The blue is black :) So one tuxedo baby, the whites might be dilutes or points, time will tell. The other queen is fine, fixed and has a vet as her new daddy :) I have no dibs yet on any of these kits. This late in the season most people I talk to already have there's.
No fleas are by no means under control :( I'm doing what I can, I'm afrad to bath newborns even in warmer days. And if mum doesn't like their new smell.....well I'm back on round the clock feedings. So any ideas, advice on that would be great. Just remember mum is next to wild so it's tricky.
No names yet for anyone.

Have you put any topical meds on mom. I think it is revolution that is safe for nursing moms. Check with your vet they will know for sure. Maybe some diatomacious earth sprinkled on some bedding and then covered with another layer, so the kittens are not directly in it, will help. Of course I am sure you are washing the bedding daily and that will help too. Hopefully you can get these fleas under control soon, fleas and kittens is not a good combination.

Well I'm needing more of an all natural/make from your own kitchen option right now, no money for two weeks!! Revolution is my first choice as well, but it will take an additional two weeks to come in the mail. I can't keep kits in fleas for four weeks! How early can I start washing them with dish soap?:
I checked weights yesterday and they are all good, the smallest 132g. Which seems to be a pointed female. Also we have a (possible) pointed male who is the largest. A tuxedo female, tortie and forbore (females of course). Lastly Mackerel male, I'm guessing the one that died was most likely a male as well. When weights were checked today, each kit had gained at least 20g.!! So that is going well so far!
