:slant: Today I have to do something that I have been putting off - my most disliked task - WEEDING!!! And of course I wait for the hottest week this year. :nothappy: I need to pull the weeds and grass that has grown up between the patio stones. Then after that job is done I will move onto the dog area out back that we made into their "potty area. We used pea gravel to make the area easily accessible for the dogs and easy for me to keep clean but the weeds and ground cover are popping back. We did not use the proper base before we laid out the pea gravel. These areas getting over grown and I can't wait another day to get it done. BUT.... I am going to counteract that tedious task with something that I will look forward to later. :hyper: A CHOCOLATE DIPPED VANILLA cone from Dairy Queen. :lol3: Larry is on a business trip this week so no cooking and I can have whatever I want for dinner. And, ICE CREAM it is. :happy3: SO - my question to you today is:

Is there something you are not looking forward to doing today? Then, is there something that you will look forward to doing today to make up for your hard work?

Not looking forward to my dentist appointment today, but only because it's going to be a hassle getting there and back. (I don't mind the dentist and like getting my teeth cleaned.) I also need to run some errands while I'm out.

The last two weeks I've had a lot of family stuff (still) going on from when my father passed away, have to work on that, also I need to do some catchup with my paying job. I'm pretty burnt out on both at the moment.

Later tonight after I make dinner and do the cleanup, I will play Animal Crossing New Leaf, that is my reward. Too bad that's about 10 hours away.

Not looking forward to starting my weekly deep cleaning.  I should have done it over the weekend (when I normally do it) but I was nursing a sore knee from falling on it Friday.  So now my knee is better so I have to start my deep cleaning (cleaning the bathroom/vacuuming/moping/etc)  I have a theory that Gabriel (my oldest and most neurotic cat) gets stressed when my place is not clean.  He gives me this look, it's sort of the same look my mother used to give me when I needed to clean my room.  Lol!  So for Gabe's nerves I should clean.  The thing I will look forward to as a reward is how good it will feel once its done.  :) Gabe is the cat in my avatar btw.  :)

I need to go pull my dead plants in the garden.  It's in the 90's here.  I got some done yesterday before my 3 year old started complaining about the heat.  I was trying to do it while my 1 year old napped.  I was also wearing my long sleeved gardening shirt...that didn't help me!

I should find myself some motivation... DS is napping now and I'm in no mood to get out there and I'm in the middle of laundry.  Yesterday we both took showers when we came in!

:hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: so sorry about you losing your father and hope that having some family around is bringing you some peace and comfort. :hugs: :vibes: :hugs:

I rather enjoy getting my teeth cleaned too - it is when I have to get bad news after the cleaning that I don't like.

I am not a gamer but have heard the good reviews about Animal Crossing! I hope you enjoy your gaming time. :D

AWWW, your little one knows when enough is enough in this heat! You had a long-sleeved shirt on - you are one brave woman! ;) Well, I am done with my sweaty chore. Then I took a cold shower - literally! :lol3: I still have some more to do on the other side of the house. Wonder when I will get to it and how long I will put it off! :lol3: Looking forward to my CONE later.

kittymommy, it's a very relaxed, but very fun game for the 3DS. Basically, you live in a town where you make a living by finding stuff to sell (by fishing, collecting shells and fruit, bug hunting, digging, etc.) There are stores where you can shop for furniture or clothes, this game you can even change the style, colors, and size of your house outside, there are lots of choices. More stores open up as you play, and there is a live venue (you can collect music) and a place to get your hair done (change color and/or style), and a museum. You can send letters and/or gifts to friends. You can also donate to improvements for the town and if you are mayor you make the decisions on what improvements to do.

It's not like the Sims where you have to feed the people or they die, in this game you just do whatever you feel like doing. There's also an island you take a boat to go visit. You can swim in the ocean and dive for creatures (to keep or sell). There's no fighting and no bad consequences. I guess the worst thing that happens if you cross-breed some flowers to get different colours and then forget to water them, after a while they will die. (If you bring the flowers inside to decorate you don't have to water and they don't die.) I don't know why it is so fun but it just is!

The last thing in the world I wanted to do tonight was attend that planning commission meeting. It's not the people; they're really wonderful guys. It's not the work....it's just that I wanted to come home and relax. But I made it to the meeting and got home by 6:30 or so tonight. So that wasn't too bad.

I was really looking forward to my walk. It's just the treadmill, but it's time that I take for me. And only for me. No cats, no Rick, no phone. Just me. And when I was done, I felt so.....good.
 Sweaty, but good.

Off to the shower!!

Hope your enjoyed your ice cream cone....chocolate! What's not to like??

I hate to say this, but I'm taking my uncle up to visit his wife in hospital, and she is becoming so terribly difficult that I'm dreading it.

Actually not looking forward to bedtime tonight (should be about now). I'm an extreme insomniac-- for maybe the last 3 yrs now. Somehow, I've  just lost the ability to turn my brain off at night. Tried everything-- every "safe" OTC drug, every behavior adjustment theory, every natural herb that people have suggested to me-- tried it all. Nothing works except this particular prescription med my Dr. has prescribed.  It works very well but the problem  is its quite addictive, and I refuse to become addicted to it by taking it every night.  So, I take it every other night-- still more than I'd like. And I get extremely tempted to get into that prescription bottle on my "off " nights, like tonight. Sometimes I falter and do it, I  just want to sleep so bad-- esp on work nights.. But its risky falling into an every night pattern. Most of the time, I can keep it to a med every other night.

Oh well, we're all dealing with our little problems, and I feel lucky if this is the worst.

I know it's Wednesday, but . . .

I hate doing these binders (we have to print out EVERYTHING we did from last year and put them in stupid page protectors, then in binders), but at the same time, there's this great sense of accomplishment when I see the actual volume of work I either produced or processed (if it was someone else's) over the year.  And I'd rather be making plans for this year.  To make up for it, I've been playing Skyrim.  Unfortunately, I need money, so I've been chopping lots of wood.  It actually works rather well in tandem with the printing from the other computer.  Print-print-chop-print-print-chop . . .

ME TIME!!! Aw - Pam, even after your meeting you still walked on that treadmill but made it your reward to yourself and that IS relaxing. (plus, feeling good about the calories you burned  :bigthumb:) I do know what you mean about that one. I like my walks on the treadmill too. No one can bother me. Well, except Perkins. :lol3: He expects me to toss his springy toy before I start and then begs for more while I am on the treadmill.

:hugs: :hugs: :hugs: I have been there on and off in the past few years too. I remember feeling almost anxious about having to go to bed knowing I will toss/turn. Have you tried some exercise in the early evening if possible? Sometimes that does the trick for me. Actually, any exercise during the day seems to help me sleep. Green tea? I don't like tea, but have heard that helps some relax. I know about those "addicting sleep meds". Maybe try to take 1/2 of your usual amount and see if that helps some. Sometimes I think we can almost trick our brain into thinking we took that little pill. Placebo effect, so to speak. What is your reward then... Do something good for yourself. :hugs: :hugs:

No worries, question of the day doesn't have to correlate with the exact day of the thread!! It must be a bit of a reward after putting together the binders and seeing ALL of your hard work!! Hard work and reward all in one!

Skyrim?? Sheesh, it is foreign territory to me - these video games. :lol3:

Thanks so much for these ideas! I do excercise about 3+ times per week with jog/walk/tennis-- except for the times I don't (know what I'm talkiin' about?) And truth be told, I could stand a 20 lb weight loss. But you struck such a chord with me when you mentioned the anxiety of merely going to bed fearing you won't sleep. In fact for me, it borders on terror sometimes. I think it is 95% of the problem-- it becomes self-fulfilling. I love the idea of half the usual amount of medication each night, as it might eliminate the anxiety of feeling I've  no hope of falling asleep. My doc would be on board too, as he fears the addiction/dependency thing as much I do.  I think I can trick myself-- not a hard thing to do for me.

As for doing something good for myself, I think I'll go ahead and drop that 20 pounds!

Thank you, Lauren ( if you don't the informality)

OH, no thanks needed. I honestly think that half of the problem with "anxiety" IS the fear of that "anxiety". And, it is something we learn/teach ourselves from having bad experiences, even if that bad experience only happened to us a couple of times. That is all it takes sometimes. We just expect them. You know? If your brain thinks you are getting what you need (some help ;)) then most times it will work to appease that negative response. Our minds are extremely powerful just all on their own.

Are you an author??!!!! I saw your kindle book from your siggy website. Looks pretty interesting and will check it out when I have more time. ;)
