My name is Lizzy and I am new to this place. I live with my two cats (hence, my name lol) in Raleigh, NC and I am in my thirties. I am a huge animal lover, and if I could, I would probably get a farm out in the middle of the country and raise pigs, and cows, and chickens along with cats and dogs. None of them to eat, of course.. you never eat the ones you love (unless your name is Hannibal.. sorry, haha joke there.. I have a weird sense of humor). Like I mentioned, I love all animals, and I really love dogs too, and I took a special interest in spaniels, especially English Springer and Brittany Spaniels. I would really like to have some as companions again some day. I used to have a English Springer named Blanche but she passed away too soon (from complications due to surgery to remove anal glands), and I was devastated. My Brittany Spaniel, Maggie May (lol yup), passed away at 17, so I am glad she lived pretty long. Since this is a cat site, I will tell you about my kitties... the loves of my life - my main coon, Chloe has the personality of a human and sometimes acts like a dog.. she is sweet, nutty and mischievous all in one. I always wonder what she is thinking. My grey tabby, Lucy, is just about as crazy as one cat can get. I actually found her by wandering into a pet rescue one day just to see what kind of kitties they had, and I fell in love. Lucy is a laugh-a-minute because she is always doing something weird or unexpected. She has run into walls (she sometimes can't stop her feet soon enough) or glass doors, or fallen off of things, but she always ends up to be okay... she is THE CLUMSIEST cat I have ever seen, and proves that cats do NOT always land on their feet. Poor Baby! :( I will probably pose some cat behavior questions on here, because my cats are nuts, but I can't wait to dig into this site, it looks great! I actually found it because I was doing a search on cat rescues in my area to volunteer at.

Welcome to The Cat Site.  Is one of your cats your Avatar?

Feel free to post in the Behavior forum; some of the posts in the Caring for Strays and Rescues may also interest you.  A lot of cats in shelters are strays (formerly owned house pets, now abandoned), and if you're interested in TNRing, LOTS of info in the Caring for Strays and Rescues forum.

Welcome. I joined a few days ago and finding so much out. Love the sound of Lucy - I too have an accident prone cat : he doesn't use his claws so always slides off furniture and crashes in to walls, rolls over when he can't stop his body in time with his legs and worse still - doesn't look before he leaps.
Sadly he does hurt himself from time to time - got his tail tangled up in a climbing frame, and then impaled himself bottom first on an unlit dinner candle before he was 6 months old.
My home was emptied of pretty much everything for about a year after I got him too but he still managed to find stuff!  He's now age 2, much bigger but just as daft I'm afraid. A bit worrying when he pastes himself in to the windows full speed chasing after flies when he's 4.5K.... May your life continue to be full of LOL  but I hope Lucy's a faster learner than my Mouse! Do you know how old she is?
