While I was in the waiting room at the vet yesterday so Luna could get her stitches out, I was thumbing through a cat book. I came upon a myth about their purr, and thought I'd share it.

Once, a princess was told that the prince she loved would die unless she spun a thousand balls of silk thread in one month. She was very sad, because of course no one can do this by themselves. Well, she had three white cats, and when they heard about it, they decided to help. So, for a whole month, the cats sat at the spinning wheels to make the balls of thread. They helped the princess save the prince. At the wedding, the cats began humming the sound that the spinning wheels made. And so, they were the first cats to "purr." From then on, cats have kept their purr, as a reminder of their friendship with humans.
