I was having a piece of cake for desert a little while ago and Gabriel immediately started pestering me for some (he has a sweet tooth.
). It got me to thinking about the cats I've had and some of the strange foods some of them have liked.

Gabriel has a sweet tooth and likes things like cake & cookies. He also likes salty food - like chips & the like. So does Samurai: He also likes nuts.

Maverick used to like Italian food, like lasagna & spaghetti. Jinxy likes Italian food, too.

I once had a cat that liked bananas. Another one liked peanut butter. And Foxy used to like M&Ms (this was before I knew that chocolate could be potentially hazardous to a cat's life.

What kind of strange food does your cat(s) like?

Abby likes the left over milk from Special K Redberries cereal.  She also loves to lick the salt off of potato chips.  She also loves the yogurt layer on those yogurt granola bars. She also loves chocolate ice cream, but I only allow her to have a few licks (by that I mean 3 or 4) because chocolate is toxic to cats and dogs.

Spencer and Katie don't like people food at all.

My RB kitty Chynna loved olives and dill pickles. She also loved oranges and strawberries, chocolate and spaghetti sauce. She was only allowed a few licks of the chocolate and spaghetti sauce.

David and Lilly both love to lick off my spoon of my vegan mayonnaise, called Vegenaise,, it is egg-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, and it tastes so good, they lick it up, as if it contained animal products (which is does not) - this stuff is SO GOOD, even my meat-eating family will choose this over regular mayo, it is so fricking creamy and good, even my carnivorous cats love it!:

It is a bit pricier than normal mayo, but so worth it taste-wise :)

Pepper loves to eat olives he goes absolutely cuckoo for them. When he was a kitten he'd find a way to open the door to the pantry and climb onto the shelf and knock down the bag of mini marshmallows and eat them.

Squeakers loved broccoli, and he liked to lick the tops of my yogurt cups.

Miagi likes chips and cheerios.  Tiger loves cream cheese and pizza crust. Angel loves lunch meat.  Not totally weird stuff.

Except for bananas, Mogli likes anything. If he had his druthers, he'd probably live on bread of any kind. He's forever trying to steal some. Unfortunately, he's got a grain allergy (wheat and corn), so we can't give him even a little bit as a treat.

Mouse loves the smell of Marmite and I swear he'd lick my plate if I left it on the table for a second -  any other used plates and cups I put down he's instantly pawing around them telling me to clear up my smelly human food.

Mia is still new to us so we haven't tried too many new foods.  But my late kitty Taco LOVED green olives.  They were like catnip to her.  She'd eat one and start rolling around on her back!

My 4 month old male kitty loves everything, he will eat anything he can get his paws on. Can be funny at times but mostly I worry about what might upset his tummy. This morning I caught him gnawing on my kitchen sponge - that is how strange it gets!

Oh goodness. My kitty Haze will eat anything and everything other than cat food.

He loves:

Broccoli

Crackers

French fries

Toilet bowl cleaner brush

I have to watch him all of the time to make sure he doesn't have something in his mouth. He even hates Temptations!

I should mention too that Stark LOVES broccoli! He even took some out of the bin a few weeks ago, lifted the bin lid and all.

Tabby enjoys sharing Rick's breakfast on the weekends when he eats cold cereal. She likes Cheerios, loves Frosted Cheerios, and her favorite cereal of all is Frosted Mini Wheats. You can't get the bowl to the table soon enough for her. Rick puts a small kitty saucer on the table and he and Tabby share their cereal on weekend mornings.....and sometimes at night, too.

Mollipop likes Cheez Its and she will usually help me eat a bowl. She can't get enough of them!

Our Rainbow baby, Banshee, dearly loved her bananas. But they had to be "just so", not too firm, not too ripe. There was a window there and once that window closed, she wouldn't touch it anymore.

All of our cats eat people tuna and they all love any kind of poultry. When I simmer chicken for stock and broth, I always make sure all the cats get their share, some a little bit more than others. Tabby, especially, sees nothing wrong with begging shamelessly for chicken whenever she can.

my 16 year old Mousy loves Ritz crackers and smoked Gouda cheese but it has to be the Dutchlander brand. he also loves cheesecake, whipcream and vanilla ice cream. but give him a piece of Deli turkey and he'll turn his nose up at it.

the Little Girl loves deli turkey and chicken

Pixie loves butter

Gypsy loves bits of bread, tortilla etc. i think she used to eat out of a lot of trashcans when she was a stray.

the other 6 could care less about people food

Angel loves anything crunchy - potato chips, pretzels, etc. If she just hears the sound of a potato chip bag she comes running.

My Rainbow kitty, BJ, loves ice cream more than anything in the world.

Tippy and Tony don't have a taste for people food at all.

Silly is my most enthusiastic people food eater. She has to have a bite (at least) of everything I eat. Spice is next in line. Sheba loves turkey pastrami and will almost take a finger off to get some.. Julie and Sugar eat a few things, but mostly want to just smell everything.

Our old cat, Baby, absolutely LOVED Pringles potato crisps!  I'd only let her have the original flavor.

Of our current fur residents:  Lizzie is fairly indifferent about people food...until I break out the ice cream.  Then she, her little sister, and brother will sit and wait until I'm done to lick the bowl (unless it had chocolate in it, then I don't give it to them).

Bazinga loves sharp cheddar cheese, preferably the fine/fancy shred.  Unsalted butter.  Bacon grease.

Sam will eat just about anything.  Especially plain nonfat yogurt and scrambled eggs.

Of course, everything in moderation :-)  Sam and Lizzie came to us last fall overweight.  Lizzie is now down to around 9 pounds, and Sam around 20 {he's a Maine Coon}.

Can I add Maggie in here, too? Maggie, our grand-dog, has developed a taste for frozen green beans. The long beans....they can't be snapped and they can't be thawed or at room temperature. They must be frozen. So when she came last Wednesday night, I made sure we had long green beans in the freezer for her. She'll eat about 10-12 at a time.

When she was at the vet for her last check-up, DS asked about her thing with green beans. The vet said it was fine, that it was better for her than canned or bagged treats and wouldn't interfere with her diet food or anything.

I gave her some frozen green beans this morning before I left for work.

Jack is my "carb-oholic"; he'll eat just about anything in the pastry family.  He loves the edges of a Poptart, cake, cookies, pie crust, cake donuts, chips, corn curls, etc.

Hannah goes crazy over hot dogs; when we found her she was 8 years old (according to the vet) and that was about all she would eat.  We always assumed her former people ate a lot of hot dogs.  Four years later, she still begs for some but doesn't eat an entire dog at one time like she used to.  She's also nuts for popcorn and chips.

Charlotte goes absolutely stupid if you get a cereal bowl out of the cabinet; she assumes you're actually having cereal and she'll get leftover milk.  She will sit close to you while you eat whatever might be in the bowl and, if there wasn't milk in it, she actually seems to pout.

Our RB kitty Clancey loved cantaloupe; he could smell it when you brought it into the house.

DH says the cats will eat just about anything that I eat.
