My co-worker has had Charlie, an 11-year old tiger now since he was pretty much a kitten. Charlie has stomach cancer and since Bob has moved out on his own (he was divorced and had moved back in with his mom when his father passed away. His mother has remarried now and so he's recently bought a house and he and Charlie live alone now), he felt that Charlie needed a buddy.

He spent the morning at a local shelter and was giving me updates on the various cats he found there. Then he called.....Bob and Charlie now have two new buddies: a Black Boy (who needs to be neutered) and a gorgeous male, Pretty Boy, who is really too pretty to be a male and is both neutered and declawed. Bob's not sure what their names are going to be; they haven't told him yet. I forget what their shelter names were. We're calling them Black Boy and Pretty Boy until they tell him what their names are.

Black Boy is about one year old and he's a real sweetie. Bob said that he was all over him right from the beginning, trying desperately to talk him into taking him home with him. Pretty Boy is just gorgeous; he's around 3 years old with this long foofy tail, gorgeous white bib and huge white, hairy paws. Bob was leaning toward taking only Pretty Boy, but then the shelter woman told him that black cats are so hard to adopt out and he felt so bad for Black Boy. Especially since I've always talked about Hydrox, The Old Coot, our black baby.

He texted me to tell me how conflicted he was and I said the answer was easy. Take them both. That way Charlie would still have two companions when Bob was at work; even if they played with each other, Charlie would still have them there and wouldn't be all alone. And since Charlie has cancer, when he passed Bob wouldn't be back to square one, trying to find a buddy for whichever male he took.

But little did I know that he'd really take them both! He called me and said, "And then there were three!"

So they are both at home in their own rooms for now. Bob has an appt to get Black Boy neutered this coming week...I'm worrying about an unneutered male spraying in his new house. And they both need their rabies shots, although they're up to date on everything else.

Rick and I are going up tonight to visit with the boys. I can't wait to meet them! Two more babies found forever homes!

I'm just reading this thread now and it is a great story.  I would love to see pics of his new kits and Charlie too.  I hope Charlie will like his new kit-mates and will have a long happy life.

Lord, they are adorable! He had some issues in the very beginning with Jax (Black Boy) peeing in his room; he is not neutered yet. Vet appt for a check-up is on Wednesday...it was the earliest appt he could get....and at that point, he'll make the appt for Jax to be neutered. Jax peed twice in his room, but Bob cleaned it really well and aired the room out. He also got Jax a new litter box with a cover and placed the box next to the nightstand that Jax sleeps under. Jax is very shy, but warms up quickly. We think that's why he peed....he was just really nervous. And since he has the new covered box, there have been no accidents that Bob can find. He goes over Jax's room with a black light and there's nothing there. So that's good. Jax is a real sweetie and when I was there, I flopped down on the floor on my belly. Jax came right over, climbed up on my back, flopped down over my shoulder and looked at me. And stayed there for about 30 minutes!
Purring the whole time. Bob lets Jax out of his room from time to time to get to know Jasper and Charlie, but then he goes back inside his room for the night. He moved a comfy recliner in Jax's room so that he has a nice place to sleep and he's been sleeping in it. He also put in a few cabinets and some kitty steps so that Jax can get to the window easily. (Bob just recently moved into this house and doesn't have a lot of furniture in the house yet....most of it is still in the garage, until he can get new carpet, rooms painted, etc.) Bob also took Monday off work because he didn't want the cats to be alone in the house yet. (Can we say.....SPOILED?!) Jax, for all his black sleekness, got a good brushing and combing and there was enough loose fur to make a kitten.

Jasper (formerly Pretty Boy) is doing very, very well and is out and about in the house full time. Charlie has met Jasper and things went very well. Both cats are so laid-back that it was like, "Hi....how ya doin'?" and that was that. No hissing, no spitting. I told Bob that Mollipop and Muffin need to take lessons from Charlie and Jasper.
He's been brushed and combed and he's a happy and contented boy. He has a whole house to roam around in and two brofurs.....life sure is good now.

I was wrong about Charlie's age; I thought he was eleven, but he's actually 14. And such a sweetie! He's just a little guy, but with this huge purrsonality. And like I said before, he does have stomach cancer and it's inoperable. So far, Charlie is doing well with it.

I got a text last night from the Three Stooges (Charlie, Jasper and Jax) about coming into sit with them for awhile tonight. Bob's nephews are playing in a softball tournament tonight and he's missed more than a few games since he's moved, so he'd like to attend this game. The Stooges would like "Auntie Pam" to come and sit with them for awhile. I said I'd come, but only if they agreed to let me take some pictures. I think that Jax, for all his shyness, is going to be a real ham with the camera!

If I get any good pictures, I'll post them.....thanks!
