Any Canadian vet techs?

Hey I am really interested in taking vet tech. I really do not like my current profession/life.


For now i am interested in the one year vet assistant program at west coast college vancouver because you get a diploma out of it instead of a cert.

Was just wondering does canada have many options to be a vet tech through at home school? Do all the book work at home and practical work at the school? America has a lot.

ALso was curious how easy is it to get into an american school like that for us canadians? I am not sure if Canada will even take an american vet tech diploma though.

I think we may have a few vet techs on here from the US, but I'm really not sure about Canada.

I applied to san jaun college they said i can do the written at home at the practical at a vet clinic or zoo. I just dont know if my end exam will be okay and accepted in canada.

It says that canadians do look at american techs as their own but you never know. I contacted them hopeful.

LAst year I got a few months experience under the watch of a vet but this was in another country it was without pay just to see how i would like it. Was mostly working with a rare species of griffon vulture the long bill? and 2 other ones. I hope this will come in handy in the future he said he will help as much as he can. I did not do anything complex I just hellped out and did simple things.  THey are powerful birds so I just kept back a lot  kinda just gave everyone water and stuff lol I helped a bit in a zoo. Again it was nothing big like giving needles or hands on with exotics because my safety is first. It was a lot of cleaning putting food into buckets, and cleaning crap, real simple stuff. There was a leopard being relocated out of a city I did not get to even go out for that or see it but probably for the best anyway. I have done my own personal trap and nuter with cats just volenter and my own foster till i could find a good home.

I just hope things can work out I really want the vet tech to work with more exotic species or even domestic birds or cats i prefer over dogs even though i do have my own dog that i love. I just feel I am more good with small animals and reptiles and cats than dogs. But i can do it all. My life pretty much sucks though i do make good money. I am in ontario.  I have a previous degree in business. But i did not get far with that. I am pretty much a failure at everything i try. Some people just not meant to survive.
