Our kitty went into our bedroom, where she spent most of her time, Meowed very loud a few times ran under the bed and died. She was 13 1/2 years old and was never really sick. She hadn't been to a vet for quite some time because she was always inside and seemed very healthy. She slept by my side every night for the past ten or so years. She purred all night long. She was a longer haired cat and had vomiting issues due to hairballs in the past. I'd give her some cat lax and she was fine. She hasn't had any problems...however my wife noticed some labored breathing a couple of weeks ago, her stomach was going in and out very deeply. That always happened when she purred so I dismissed it as nothing. She hasn't thrown up in a long time, so I hadn't given her cat lax in a while. Just last night, she cuddled next to me and purred me to sleep. I can't even go into my bedroom. I already miss her terribly, and I feel like I neglected her. I just didn't see it coming. RIP Kitty. I love you! It just isn't the same without you!

So often when our beloved kitties leave us we have a sense of guilt or wishing we had done 'something' this is totally unjustified.

Your lovely girl had a wonderful home with people who cared so much for her, and her death was not laboured.. it was just her time to go.

**hugs**

  RIP beautiful Kitty

I'm very sorry for your loss. As upsetting as such a sudden death can be, it's far better than a lingering, painful one. We all question whether there was something more we could have done, but usually it's just a matter of our cat's time having run out.

RIP, little one.

HUGS to you TJG.   I know the grief is hard to bear and hole they leave in our hearts is a measure of how much we love them.   If it's any comfort to you, realize that even if you did anticipate everything and do everything medically possible that would not necessarily have meant less suffering ultimately for your kitty.   Sometimes a quick death is best I think.    For my two that I lost at 14 and 15 years of age I put myself and them through the ringer trying to get them a few more months if not years of life and I'm not sure that I entirely did the right thing in hindsight.   I think if we give them a life full of love that is what matters most and how the end goes isn't necessarily up to us.
