My mom and I rescued 4 feral kittens, raised from a bottle. On May 20th the Moore tornado destroyed their house and now both mom and kittens are living with my husband and our 3 cats.

So needless to say it is a stressful situation for them, especially as 2 of our cats don't like them very much.

Two weeks ago one of the kitties, now 9 months old, started vomiting food then watery foam (with the tiniest amount of blood). He was checked by the vet who found coccidia in his stool. He and all his 3 brothers were treated with Albon for the coccidia, but it didn't stop his vomiting. By day 2 we took him in and he had a Reglan shot with subcu fluids. Bloodwork was normal. No fever. No diarrhea. Xrays and ultrasound showed no visible blockages. The treatment (fluids and reglan)  seemed to perk him up, but its taken the better part of 2 weeks for him to feel normal and stop the occasional vomiting when he ate. We are still feeding him chicken baby food but have started him back on a tiny bit of regular cat food, which he seems to be tolerating. He is playing and active.

However... two days ago his brother Baxter came down with the exact same symptoms except Baxter has a fever from 102-103. Emergency vet checked him - Xray (showed nothing abnormal) and bloodwork panel (also everything normal). So he gave him Cerenia and we took him home. the meds stopped his vomiting temporarily but he was still nauseous and sleeping constantly. No interest in food all this time. Yesterday afternoon we took him to the vet for subcu fluids hoping to perk him up, which it did not. At home he was still listless and slept in his "i am uncomfortable" position. Then, when his Cerenia wore off at 10:30pm last night he started vomiting again, which went on @ every 2 hours. Took him to the vet again this morning for a re-evaluation. She found nothing abnormal on palpating his abdomen and took a small blood sample to check basic things - aside from a marginally low white cell count he was all normal ranges.

So, she gave him Reglan and more fluids and we took him home. Discussed hospitalization, but decided it would just be more stressful for him. We really expected the Reglan to deal with the nausea and vomiting because it worked so well on his brother.

Long story short, since we got him home at 10AM he has vomited twice, at 11:30 and 1:15pm.

Does anyone have experience with Reglan? How well does it control vomiting? Should I give it some more time to work before becoming even more concerned? And even if we are concerned, what else can we do that we aren't trying?

We've tried to think of anything... poisons in the house, etc. (we have no plants and they have no access to chemicals of any kind)... but can't find anything. :(  Vet thinks it could possibly be a bug of some kind, affecting mostly their stomachs, but that's the best guess we have.

Anyone have thoughts or input? Sorry, I may need to explain more and i'm happy to if need be. I'm a little scatterbrained after all this. Feel free to ask questions.

If Reglan isn't working, you should ask your vet about Cerenia. It's a very effective drug for vomiting.

Sorry to hear of your kitties' woes. This actually sounds similar to a virus that affected another member's cats. It presented as vomiting in several cats and vomiting and pancreatitis in one cat.

Many vibes for a quick recovery for your kitties.
