This is my cat Oscar. His tail lies across his back which is shown in the picture. It is generally closer to his back but I don't have a better pic. It has been like that since I can remember except it wasn't really like that when he was a kitten. As he matured, it became more bent over. It doesn't seem to bother him at all and he can still do everything fine but I am interested to find out more about it. I can't show my vet because he gets scared and puts the tail down. I thought it could be doubled-jointed, a deformity, genetic or even he broke it when he was little and it healed like this. I would be interested to hear opinions on his tail and see if anyone else has seen the same thing.

One of my cats has her tail down close to her back too. I guess its the way it is? I wouldn't worry about it if he's functioning fine!

And on a side note, I love the flowers on his collar, lol. Welcome TCS!!

I wouldn't worry either! I think I read somewhere that it is called "ring tail". Some cats just have a hypermobility of their tails!! I have seen them lie flat on their back though it is rare or curl around the other way. You have a special kitty, that is all!!!:clap:
