Greetings,

I have a hose cat. For the past months, it gave birth to some kittens. these kittens suddenly got very skinny and died. They lived for about one month and a half. It gave birth to a new set of kittens (3) and one of them was ver very skinny and tiny and died. It lived for about one month. Now one of the other two is getting also very skinny and his face is starting to become different. He was not skinny before but suddenly he became like this. My mom takes good care of them.

Also, I'd like to mention that I live in Saudi Arabia where the weather in summer is very very hot. It reaches degrees above 42 centigrade

However the cats always sit in the shade.

Here is a picture of the Mom cat

Here is the two cats

Can you please tell me what might their problem is and what should I do?

It's really hard to say what could be wrong. Your cat might be passing along a congenital defect or they might be catching a virus. Is there a reason that you are allowing your cat to have so many litters? It's really not healthy for her. The best thing to do for her would be to get her spayed.

I believe it is not legal to spay or neuter cats or dogs in Saudi Arabia.

What is the momma cat eating? Diet deficiencies are most often the cause of litters not surviving.

Wow, I had no idea. How is Saudi Arabia not completely overrun with stray cats and dogs?

I have heard that it is illegal too but there is an article on the Saudi Humane society on the benefits of neutering animals, so I think it may be possible to get it done (http://saudihumane.org/2012/12/16/top-10-reasons-to-spayneuter-your-pet/). That being said it is a common practice for people to breed their animals in Saudi Arabia and it is a cultural norm.

To the OP the best thing to do would be to take the kittens to the vet and see what they say. Because her litters keep dying it may very well be a genetic disorder so I think you may be able to get her spayed on compassionate grounds. I do not think it is a good idea to let her to breed any longer, so you should talk to your vet about options.

I contacted the Saudi Humane Society to find out. They said that sterilization is legal, and they recommend (if in Riyadh), the Riyadh Veterinary Clinic, Dr.Takura in particular is an excellent vet. 0114568736. Exit 9, next to McDonalds. Riyadh.

I hope this helps.
