This is the first cat I've ever had so im still new at all this. So Milo is 10 1/2 weeks old and today we took him to get his first shot the FVRCP. He was fine right after. He came home, ate, and fell asleep for like 5 hours. He woke up about an hour ago and threw up (the first time he's thrown up since living here for almost 2 months) went to the bathroom and fell back asleep. He's usually very playful and loves being petted but when he came home he barely played and moved away when anyone would pet him. I just want to know if this is normal and what I should do in order to prevent him from throwing up or any ways that I can make him feel better thanks xx

  Poor Milo
. I would definitely keep a close eye on him, maybe hold out feeding him for a few hours but make sure he has fresh water available.  What did he vomit? Was it liquid, food, bile.....and when u say he went to the bathroom, was there anything abnormal......

Vaccines do sometimes have side effects. I would take a look at the vaccine section on www.catinfo.org for more information. I would also call the vet to report the side effects and see what they say.

He vomited the food we gave him at least 7 hours ago. He went to the bathroom normally and there was nothing different this time.

He's well past the time threshold for some kind of fast, lethal reaction, so that's good. But you may want to keep an eye on him. Vaccines can sometimes have side effects, as others have mentioned. Mainly you want to make sure he's hydrated and keeping down what he eats. Try more frequent, smaller meals. And yeah, do contact the vet.

Was the food undigested after 7 hours? That might point to some irritation in his gut. It should be pretty broken down by then.

M kitten was vaccinated last Saturday. He was fine later that day, perhaps a little more sleepy than usual. On Sunday he was clearly not feeling 100%. He would ask for food but not eat it, he wasn't interested in playing and slept all day. Sometimes he would wake up, move a few feet and lay down and go back to sleep. By Sunday night he was picking back up again. I have no doubt it was the vaccine. I wonder if my kitten had eaten much on Sunday whether he would have thrown up as well. I agree with what everyone else said. Keep and eye on him and call your vet just to be on the safe side.
