Update on Sally's vet trip didn't expect to get this kind of news Vet told me that Sally has a Heart murmur i couldn't believe I'm still crying while typing this, the little noise she is making he says is a respiratory thing and gave her an injection i have to take her back on Friday

I cant seem to stop crying right now it brings back memories when the docs told me that my daughter has a heart murmur and at 3wks old she had open heart surgery was the worst 3months of my life. ( she is 2yrs now and full of beans)

Do they even do heart surgery on cats?

Very upset

Vicki! Stop crying, a heart murmur is not a death sentence! I'm thinking because of your daughter's history you are over-worrying.

Heart murmur in cats are not uncommon, just as in people. It is the extent of it, as well as whether it used to not be there and now is, or if it grows worse that is something to worry about.

Cats live with murmurs all the time just fine and for as long as any other cat.

The vet can grade the murmur. This should give you some peace of mind.

Odds are your kitty will be just fine. Probably always had it too, just wasn't heard before because it's not bad.

The respiratory is a uri (upper respiratory infection) and he likely gave her an antibiotic injection.

UPDATE on Sally

Took her back to the vet this morning the vet decided that he was going to have a look in Sally's throat to see if there is grass stuck in her throat this is the funny noise she was making with the injection the vet gave her on Monday he was hoping that this would help which hasn't made much of a difference so that's why he had a look, he phoned me while i was in Morrison and she that it was all done she was waking up from the anesthetic and we can go pick her up between 3-4 today, he also said this this morning that some cats at some point may get herpes and that sally may of had a cold or cat flu and that it lays dormant in there system until a stressful situation brings it out as she told me that her throat was inflamed so he gave her another bout of steroids and a b-vitamin 12 ( i think) to help with her appetite, he also took a blood sample to check Sally's thyroid so the results will be back on Wednesday for that.

So I'm just thinking that I've caused this in sally with bringing in the new kitten if he wasn't her she wouldn't have an inflammation of the throat due to stress x
