This might be a lame question, but if a queen grooms long haired kittens, would she be more likely to get hairballs?

My cat has been getting sick, and it's mostly clear liquid but with some fur in it.  She's a short haired cat, and has never had a problem with hairballs.  The kittens are getting pretty big - they're two months old now.

She hasn't been outside in the last 3 months.  She's been eating the same food for the last 6 months.  She doesn't seem ill.

If she's having fur problems, is there anything I can do to help?  It doesn't appear to be clots of hair, just some fur floating in what she's brought up.

Or am I off the mark, and it's more likely she is ill?

Throwing up clear liquid with just some hair floating in it does not sound normal to  me.
Especially if she's doing it with any frequency.  I'd definitely take her in for a check-up.
