Not sure if I should put this under the Health Forum, or under The Cat Lounge, but just found an article advising that there is a new (ish) Senate Bill out there discussing compounded drugs and although it's mostly regarding compounding for humans, there is a portion on animals.  It could effect the future ability of us getting compounded drugs for our furbabies!  Here's some information on it:

(sorry if this is old news...I did a search on S959 and didn't come up with anything

But, is this current at all?  I looked everywhere on that page and didn't see any date anywhere! (Maybe I'm obtuse!)

I think this was probably a reaction to the tainted steroid injections that came from a compounding pharmacy.  That pharmacy wasn't playing by the rules they were mass producing and their clean room was anything but.  That was and still is a bad situation.  There are people living with that mold from the medication in their systems.  They can't get rid of it and the treatments to keep it from spreading to their brains are painful.  I think they should be subject to inspections to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing which is filling single prescriptions rather than mass production.  Their production facility should also be subject to inspection.  They are outside normal FDA inspections because they don't mass produce.

Yes, I believe that is EXACTLY what started the entire thing.

There is a link within the website I attached where you can contact your congress representatives, and a letter is already pre-written for you (if you want to use it).  I just added how I have used compounded meds for my senior cat who was impossible to pill with a bitter medication, and sent it off.  Very easy to do.

Thanks mrsgreenjeans for the heads up.

I   wrote a letter to the senators and representative,  put it mostly in my own words and told about using compounded meds for cats and kittens.
