Hi Everyone,

My kitties are on whole ground prey from mypetcarnivore with added alnutrin. I also give hearts or chicken pieces with COTW.

My new puppy is on Fromm gold puppy kibble. (that's what she was on before I adopted her). I keep hearing that kibble is good for puppy's teeth but I'm just not sure kibble is so good for overall health.. Also, she smells the raw food and goes crazy wanting it. I put a tiny tiny drop of raw on her food so she will eat the kibble.

Can puppies eat the same food? Do i have to add anything else. Is alnutrin okay for dogs/  I guess COTW is okay because on label it says for dogs and cats.

Also, if I eliminate the kibble she won't get the crunch so what suggestions for small raw that would give her the crunch. She's a small shih tzu puppy and weighs less than 4pounds.

Thanks!

Yes, that would be a good diet for a small-breed puppy. Giant breeds have very specific calcium/phosphorus needs while growing---getting it even slightly wrong can really mess up their growth, so you really have to know what you're doing---but small breeds don't have that problem. They say you can feed the whole ground prey to dogs without supplementation, but adding Alnutrin shouldn't hurt at all.

Chicken wings and pork ribs are good bone-in meals for small dogs.

I would think that since the myth of kibble being good for teeth does not apply to cats, it wouldn't apply to dogs either? As Willowy suggested, raw meaty bones would be your best bet for dental health, diet-wise. And nothing beats brushing.

I know that HarleyDiva feeds her cats and dogs (I believe they are smaller dogs) the same ground with supplements diet. You might want to PM her if she doesn't see this thread.

Thanks so much. My puppy is a small toy breed I just adopted and come with  a couple infections sigh. After she's in better health I am going to get her off kibble. I'm deciding between raw and cooked food.  I have to look into what if any supplements she would need. She's so little I don't want to get it wrong.

I think I will start adding some canned wet food to get her started. And thanks, I'm going to pm HarleyDiva.
