Jake threw up two nights ago in the middle of the night, and then again last night. There was nothing except food in his vomit, however he was hacking for a few minutes before he threw up, which is what woke me up.
Just last week I took him to the vet because he seemed just a little bit lethargic, and i thought he might have bad breath, but wasn't sure..the vet found nothing wrong, did blood work and urine analysis and all came back normal.
he has been eating as normal, in fact right after he threw up he headed right to his food bowl both times. I also checked his litter box - tootsie roll poops
he also pooped right after he threw up. Probably because I was feeling his stomach for anything unusual so maybe I made things move along
Anyway, since he lived with my parents I've forgotten how hairballs work. He has had a few in his lifetime. Is it normal to throw up before he is finally able to get rid of the hairball? Is there anything I can do to help speed things up? I saw very conflicting information about vaseline, butter, and egg lecithin (sp?)
