First, let me introduce myself. My name is Michelle and last spring we adopted a 10 week old rescue kitty who we call "Izzy". Izzy has a big personality who loves water, playing fetch, snuggling and often thinks she's a monkey. Recently, Izzy has shown us that she is also a survivor! A week ago our vet gave us the heart-stopping news that Izzy's kidneys were failing. Her BUN was 180+ and her creatinine was 18.3. After a stay in the pet hospital she is HOME!!! The results aren't back from a culture to test for specific strands of bacteria but with the rapid onset/decline and recovery it makes sense that she ate something toxic rather than having an infection. Talk about mommy guilt........ Anyway, I'm happy to find this and all of you. Izzy is our first cat and so I'm learning all the time. The more help and opinions I can get the better so thank you in advance. Izzy also shows signs that she may have some food allergies- 3 ear infections, hot spots on her tummy. This is going to be a process from what I've read. Anyway, I'm off to read more of what is here to hopefully help Izzy continue her recovery and figure out some steps/ideas towards figuring out her food allergies. :)

Welcome to the site! :wavey:

I am so glad to hear that Izzy is doing better. Food allergies are not fun, I am currently in the process of figuring out allergies with my dog. I think we may have finally figured it out. I would pop over to the nutrition forum and ask for help there, we have many knowledgeable members who can help you.
