My sweet girl didn't show up for breakfast a few days ago.  We were worried and searched for her all day, finally finding her that night.  Her right eye and right side of her head were very swollen.  I ran her to the emergency animal hospital and the vet said she'd suffered a head injury.   She stayed overnight and I was told she did great but would need her right eye to be re-stained in a few days.  Her eye was still swollen, but most of the other swelling went down a lot.

She's normally an outside cat (came to us that way-she adopted us about 4 weeks ago), but I've kept her inside since the incident.  Since there are allergies in our home, she's confined to the screen porch and den.  Other than hating the cone collar she has to wear and being stuck inside (it's been pouring for days anyway), she seems to be okay.  She is jumping from couch to couch and moving around fairly normally, although she walks backwards a lot, trying to get out of her collar.  :)  I've slept on the couch with her for the last 3 nights...didn't want her to be alone in a new place...and she's been very affectionate, wanting to cuddle at night.  The swelling in her eye gets better each day, which makes it easier for me to see the extent of her injury.

Which brings me to the point of this.  I noticed this morning that her injured eye has some blood behind it and it appears to be constricted (not dilating).  We see our vet tomorrow, but I'm worried about her.  Does anyone have any experience with this or any advice?  I can't wait to take off that collar and let her run around a bit more...although, she will be an inside at night kitty from now on.  But I'm waiting until we see the vet in the morning.

I realize there isn't much anyone can do at this point.  I'm just SO worried about my sweet Mia Rose.  She's so precious and has quickly become a very loved member of our family.  The thought of her suffering is breaking my heart!!!!

How is she doing now?  I'm guessing you've been back to the Vet by  now for her follow-up.  Did they think everything was progressing normally for such an injury?

for your little Mia Rose

She's doing great!  We were worried about the blood on her eye, but the vet said it wasn't clotting so it would just start to dissipate on it's own.  She's on antibiotic eye drops-she had some red puffy spots that concerned the vet.  Today, her eye is doing much better!  Much of the blood has started to disappear and I can see her beautiful green eye again!!!

Thanks for asking!
