Oliver my six week old, (on Monday) kitten has an upper respiratory infection. The vet gave me antibiotics for him and medicated drops for his eyes.

He told me it's not uncommon for bottle babies to get these, but after the way I lost Squeakers I'm completely freaking out. Somebody please reassure me here. He's eating and drinking fine, from a bottle anyway, he still refuses to drink from a dish, eating sure, drinking no, and he's playing and using the bathroom, everything is going okay. A little touch of diarrhea from the antibiotics, very mild though.

I never used to be such a worry wort. I really didn't. Now every time he sneezes my heart stops for half a second. I'm going to bite all my nails off with worry until he's pronounced better.

On the forth, when I saw his third eyelid up, I just about had a heart attack, so I took him in to our new vet early yesterday. He assured me Oliver will be fine, but I can't help worrying. What should I look out for with my new baby?

Of course you can't help worrying
.  He's your furbaby!  You'll worry about him for his entire life...it's only  natural.

But for this particular heath event, since your Vet said he'll be fine, you should listen to him!  There is no reason to think otherwise.

He sounds so awful though, the cough he has....poor little guy.

I've never had a cat with any upper respiratory infection. I can't wait until he's old enough to vaccinate against these things. I have to wait two weeks. I like the new vet though, however he's 15 minutes away...but I will never ever go to the old vet again.

The cough is probably from drainage.  Do you have a warm mist vaporizer?  You can set that up in his room and run it 24/7.  That will help him breathe easier and help that stuff drain.  If you don't have a vaporizer, you can get the bathroom steamy and sit in there with him while the steam dissipates.  If he's severely congested, you can use baby saline nose drops (Little Noses) in his nose to help him sneeze and expel the snot.  You can also use one of those little bulbs you use on babies to draw snot out of noses.  As long as he's eating and using the box, he's on the right path.  Keep him fed and warm and continue with the meds.  It usually takes 48-72 hrs to see any improvement from the meds.  It's hard to wait and watch them struggle, though.

That's a good idea! I have a humidifier.

He's not very snotty, but very sneezy, and coughing and watery-eyed. His eyes look a lot better from the drops though, no more green goop.
