My cat grew out of it but when Harley was young, he used to be TERRIFIED of mirrors laid flat on the ground.  If you put the mirror on the floor and put him on top, he freaks out and runs to hide.

I tried again recently to see if he still has this fear and he seems perfectly fine now LOL

So strange!!

Our kitties are afraid of moths they hiss at them, and vacuum cleaners... they used to hate the broom, but now everytime I get it out they want to ride on it and chew the end of it lol.

I was opening a garbage bag last night and shook it and Bella went berzerk. She was so scared of it.

I find that to be common with many cats

Diago is scared...or more so angry..at the mop. Its the octopus type and he follows you around at a wide berth crouching and making low sounds and flicking his tail. I ignore him and one tine he got himself cornered and when I did the next swipe it came close to him and he puffed up and was wide mounth hissing and then lept on it in the sme fashion and ran away. He was a kitten at that time.

That's funny. You should get that on video & post it!

All my cats are afraid of the door bell. Three of them don't like the vacuum cleaner but are not terrified of it. My girl Gadget loves, loves, loves the vacuum cleaner. Whenever I bring it out I have to spend at least 5 minutes vacuuming her. She meows, rolls around and purrs. It is so cute.

Angel is afraid of the vacuum cleaner, so I will tell him, momma's gonna vacuume & off he goes!

He runs & hides behind the chair in the living room when I get it out. When I start vacuuming in there, he then takes off & hides under my bed.

When I get to the bedroom, & am on one side of the bed, I will see him streak by,  making a run for it, back to the living room!
  "run baby, run!!"

Mogli doesn't like the vacuum cleaner. He'll leave the room if I'm running it and he isn't already up in a high place. He's fine with fans and other appliances, though.

Jamie was really afraid of grapes. That was due to the time he swatted at a wasp on a grape vine and was stung. As far as he knew, a grape "got" him. He went outside on a leash and was afraid of any buckets he saw out there (DH often uses them when gardening), though he was fine with them in the house.
I just saw this--that's FUNNY, poor little guy, afraid of grapes!

Ozzy is afraid of--well, lots of things, but specifically the sound of the garbage disposal.  I would give kitties their food and then clean out their bowls from the previous meal and run the disposal but holy cow--the first time Ozzy heard it, he tried to run out the room, lost traction on the tile floor running so hard and I thought he was going to have a heart attack he was so petrified.  Poor baby.  I've occasionally absent-mindedly run the disposal while he's eating but mostly I remember not to.  I'll stand there at the sink and wait for him to finish eating and then leave the room before I run it....the things we do for our kids, eh?  LOL

Yogurt lol. If I open a cup of yogurt, my cat will run! She'll sit calmly on a higher surface while I vacuum, but if there's yogurt to be had, she's outta here. It's because one time I had some on a spoon and she kept meowing, so I held the spoon out for her to sniff (kitty likes to sniff-approve all my meals for me). I guess she misjudged her distance, because she leaned in to sniff but accidently stuck her nose into the cold yogurt lol. She went running out of the room and now if I so much as have it in my hand, she won't come near me. I pretty much stopped buying it all together.

Vacuum cleaners and piles of laundry.. Not even kidding.. .His hair raises anytime he sees a pile of laundry and he sniffs it.  I don't know why it makes him scared but it does. I need to record him on tape doing it.

These are great!

My cat Shyla is afraid of the sound of me striking a match on the matchbox.

I used to have a huge sweet cat named Bailey. He was absolutely terrified of plastic bags. If you brought groceries home in them he'd run. Just the sound of them sent him running. His fear came from accidentally getting the handle of one stuck around his neck. He tried to run away from it, and it just filled up with air and flapped behind him like a cape. That made it more scary, and he was tearing around the house trying to get away from it while I was chasing him to get the bag off. I finally found him in the corner of the coat closet, shaking with huge eyes. He was so scared he literally pooped himself! Poor guy!

Bear is afraid of frontline. He hates getting that little wet spot on his neck. He will go pout under the bed for hours after application. I can't even let him see the box or he will hide on me!
