Hello everyone.
First let me introduce my Cat to all of you. Her name is Mishi, she is 2 years and 8months old. Her weight is 10lbs. I got her recently on 2nd of july from one of my friend.

According to her, Mishi only eats dry food. The Royal Canin Hair and Skin 33 and Royal Canin Persian 30.
Is it okay for her to only eat these always? And yes, she is always provided with fresh water.
I don't want to feed her any canned food. So here are a bunch of questions I need to ask;

1) is it okay if her diet doesn't consist of any wet food?
2)is here anyone else who feeds royal Canin?
3) What breed exactly is Mishi?

Thanks.

Aw, she's beautiful!

The foods you're feeding her are "complete and balanced" for a cat, so yes, you can feed her only those. :)

Is there a particular reason you don't want to feed her any canned food? I realize your choice of options is probably quite limited, but canned food is better for cats, in the long term, because it puts less stress on their kidneys. Here's a site written by a vet about nutrition for cats: http://www.catinfo.org

I'm sure there are a number of TCS members that feed Royal Canin, hopefully they'll find this thread and chime in. :)

As to the breed, if she didn't come with papers, then she's a mixed-breed domestic cat - either medium hair, long hair or short hair. It's a little hard to tell from the pictures, but she looks like she has medium hair, and her markings look to be classic tabby with white. But you'll get better answers in this forum, where you can ask what breed(s) your cat looks like: http://www.thecatsite.com/f/5809/describing-cats-what-does-my-cat-look-like

Is this your first cat?

Well, whether she is or isn't, you've come to the right place for everything cat. :lol3:

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I feel quite relaxed knowing that the diet is complete & balanced.
As for canned food, I don't trust their quality. I don't want to stay in a dilemma of feeding my cat something cheap & bad quality. I live in Saudi Arabia, I'm not sure if I can find a brand that is suitable for cats but if you can please suggest some good quality canned food which you think are really recommended? I'd be glad.

Thanks for the information on her breed. She came with a medical card thats states her breed to be "Sherazy American" which I doubt is not a registered breed of cat so I wanted to make sure through you people's experience here.

Yes, this is my first cat and the first forum i joined for my Mishi. (:
And i like it.

Thanks.

And also can someone please guide me that how much of this Royal Canin I should feed her within 24 hours? Because she is hungry like after every 3-4 hours. So i was wondering if I could get to know a fixed amount and then can feed her in intervals. Ps, shes 10lbs.

Usually the bag will tell you how much to feed, although you usually have to adjust that amount according to her individual needs. So start with what it says on the bag, and adjust accordingly---if she starts getting fat, feed less, if she starts getting too thin, feed more.

If you don't trust the canned food, can you give her some real meat now and then (raw or cooked, whatever she likes and you think is best)? Kibble doesn't have a lot of meat so it's good to get some high-quality protein into her whenever possible. If you keep it to less than 15% of her diet you don't have to worry about balancing it.

Well, each food has a different amount of calories. There should be instructions on the bag - a Feeding Guideline, that will give you a guideline in terms of quantity (like 1/2 a cup daily or something). But keep in mind that the recommended amount by the manufacturer almost always suggests too much food, and many people following the instructions wind up with fat cats.

For adult cats, they really do best eating at least three meals a day. I feed my cats before work, after work, and before bed.

Do they have the Fancy Feast "classic" style foods available there? That's one brand of canned food that seems to be available many places around the world.

Willowy's advice is good.

I feed my cat homemade raw food. I don't feed dry or canned foods.

But if you feed 3 meals a day, that's three meals a week. So you could feed 3 meals a week of just meat without worrying about making it balanced nutritionally.

Or you can just offer her a little bit of meat as a treat more frequently. :)

Mishi is adorable
Have you tried doing a Google search, something like "buy canned cat food Saudi Arabia"? I live in Australia but I find a much bigger variety of food in online pet stores than in 'real' shops. You can often order a case at a time, and if you find a good deal, it balances out the postage costs. If you find some brands but you're not sure about the quality, you can always post the names on here and I'm sure folks will tell if you they know the brand.
