We have a colony of ferals outside besides our 3 indoor cats.  We try to grab and fix them all, but occasionally one or two get missed. 2 months ago one of the females had a litter of 3.  2 of them are fine, but one had trouble walking, would fall over constantly, her head shakes sometimes but she does her best to keep up with the others.  2 weeks ago-we heard an awful screech and rukus outside and that lil baby got attacked by a racoon.  She had her left leg pretty badly damaged, so....being the saps we are, we loaded her up and took her to the vet.  Fast forward 2 weeks (and $1400) she is now our indoor cat-she has to have a soft cast/bandage on her leg for another week, but otherwise she 'runs' around, plays, eats and sleeps so well you could never tell she has CH.  Put her on her feet tho and she will wobble and fall over a few times before she can get her bearings.  She purrs and is so lovable. She can never return outside due to her disability.

Do any of you know of-or have a CH kitty?

Aw, THANK YOU for adopting this CH baby! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

We rescued two CH kitties from the local pound. This was back when we were more actively rescuing. Someone had thrown them away in a garbage bag, and the garage man heard mewing. :bawling: He took them to the county shelter. They called us and said we had two hours to get there before they were going to euthanize them. Needless to say, we dropped everything and sped...

We adopted Ming Loy; one of the vet techs adopted her sister. At the vet, they'd been named Neuro and Logic. A friend that rescues named her two rescue CH ktties Tilt and Whirl. :)

You've seen the Charley videos? He's adorable and such a great CH kitty ambassador. :heart2:

Our Ming Loy isn't too bad. She does fall over a lot, though she did develop more muscle control with age. Our other cats are quite used to her by now. She can't jump at all, but she can climb! And when she gets excited, her head does look like it's going to shake off. :lol3:

HAHA...yes, her head bobs quite fast too when she is trying to eat or is engaged in 'killing' one of the toys she loves.  Is there anything special you need to do for these little guys?  I understand there is no medication to help curb their shakes and wobbles-right?  Yes, I saw the Charlie video this morning while searching for info on this condition.  He is amazing.

BTW..we named her "Wiggles" as that name seemed to fit the way she walks pretty well.
She is a cutie, I will try to post a picture of her.

Love her name! :D

Nope, there's nothing special to do for them, other than ensure their safety. :)

We have step-ups for Mingle, like little stairs in places; those small, "one story" condos placed so she can more easily get up on the couch, the bed, etc.

When she first started climbing, we had a large layer of pillows in a huge circle around the bases of the cat trees, because she used to climb higher than she could easily get down, and we weren't always around. :rub:

But the condition is the result of scarring on the brain, so it's not a disease, nothing that progresses, and nothing a medication can help. :heart2:

Just enjoy their silly "enhanced" cat-ness. :)
