It's winter here and I've been going through the wardrobe looking for warm stuff.

And I realised that, even though I take things to the op shops quite regularly, there's still stuff I don't wear because I may lose/gain weight, or have a function that it's appropriate for, or it has memories, and so on.

What do you have in your wardrobe that you never wear but won't get rid of?

I have a t-shirt with a hand-painted chicken on it that I bought at the Great Wall of China about 30 years ago, but that's more of a souvenier.

There's a skirt made of metalic thread that is grossly uncomfortable, but I can't part with it.

And I have way too many hand woven shawls that I don't wear but I just love them....

I have a lot of stuff I'm saving for when I lose weight.  Suits and work clothing mostly.  But I'm also hanging onto my maternity things; just in case!

I have two T-shirts my brother mailed to me a couple of days before he died that I've hung on to all these years (over 20 now).
I'd gained weight prior to my thyroid surgery and bought some new jeans. The weight, and then some, dropped off after the OP, but I'm holding on to those pairs "just in case".

Would you believe I still have my high school varsity sweater? Oh, my wedding dress, too.

I saved my wedding dress and a dress that my MIL had made for me when I was pregnant. I also saved the dress that I wore to our son's wedding....it was a size 14 and I could swim in that thing now. But I'm saving it anyway.

I have an assortment of clothing sizes from 6 - 12, depending on how much I weigh. It's pathetic that I have four different sizes of clothing, all based on my weight.

I am a big Star Trek fan and I always liked Quark from DS9. When Rick came back from Vegas one time, he gave me a neat red t-shirt that says "Quark's Bar and Grill" on it. I love that tee! It's pretty much threadbare now, but I refuse to give it up.

My GF gave me a Mutts t-shirt that has their pictures on it and it says "Yesh!" (When she and I talk or e-mail, I have a tendency to say "Yesh!" often. Hence the shirt.)

And somebody gave me a Vampire Diaries tee that just says "Bite me!" on it with two drops of blood, largely because that's my catch-phrase at work with the guys. When they really get me going, I'll say, "Bite-TH me!" They saw the shirt, they thought of me....so it's mine now.

Our closets are seriously tiny, we live in an old house and the bedrooms are small, too, no room for a wardrobe or anything. When you have a closet that is 34" inches across, you don't have much space especially if you try to keep winter coats and jackets in there. (We keep the cold-weather clothes out all year, and bring the warm-weather stuff up from the basement for 2 months in the summer.)

I had gained weight when my Hashimoto's Thyroiditis kicked in, triggered by having a baby, took me ten years to get the weight off!  I donated those clothes several years ago - didn't really want to see/wear them again.

I have some expensive clothes that I bought while I was going on interviews (Tahari is one of them) and capri's that I bought at Caché which are expensive.. and a really nice pair of leather pants that I bought in college about 12 years ago. way too small, but I don't want to get rid of it!

I still have my wedding dress too! :heart3: It is still packed away in a box after it was cleaned almost 28 years ago. I also have my 8th grade graduation dress that my mother made for me. It is really a beautiful dress and I still look at it from time to time.

I also have all of my equestrian clothes. Breeches, vests, boots, gloves, shirts, etc. etc. :lol3: Tons of horse clothes. I won't get rid of them because I still feel horses running through my blood. I plan on getting back into riding sometime. When.... not sure. :)
