Only two weeks after I neutered my baby. He started having coughing fits and a bit of a fever, and diarrhea as well. I took him to the vet and the doctor did not diagnose him with anything he just gave him two antibiotics injections, one for the respiratory system and one for the fever. He told me to monitor his coughing and come back soon for a check up.

That was before yesterday. When I took him back home I kept him close the whole time, he coughed less but sneezed a lot! His temperature is still high and his appetite is weaker and he sleeps all the time!

I'm definitely not taking him to the same vet,  but I need tips for making him feel better meanwhile! Please help!

Just a side note: I used to feed him Fancy Feast Chicken and Gravy, but now all he eats is normal canned tuna in brine water!

This is an old picture of him, he's five months old now

Aw, poor baby! We had that quite a bit, though not necessarily after their spay or neuter. When they were younger, whenever we took them to the vet for one thing, they'd wind up getting sick with something else. I don't know if they caught it at the vet, or if it was just the stress of the visit / procedure, and their lowered immune response from the stress let a bug they already had grab hold. It's not uncommon. :(

The sneezing indicates to me that his nose is stuffy. That would be why he only wants the strong smelling tuna. To help unclog his nose, make the bathroom REALLY steamy - kind of like us using a vaporizer.

Instead of offering him the tuna, try offering the Fancy Feast warmed up a bit. 5 to 8 seconds in the microwave should do it. If that doesn't work, just pour some of the tuna juice on the Fancy Feast. Having his full nutrition will help him fight this. :heart2:

Does he still have the diarrhea? If so, consider giving him a human acidophilus supplement: 5 billion CFU daily. My cats just eat it sprinkled on their food - you can dribble some tuna juice on it, and hopefully that will get him to lick it up. You can also try some plain yogurt, though the acidophilus supplement will likely have more active cultures in it.

Vibes for your little guy! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

I can't say my babies have ever caught anything form the vet's clinic. Thank you for the advice i'll try giving him some plain yoghurt

He just got up to play a little, and his temperature is lower, yet he's still lethargic
