Just when I got excited about chicken feet at my supermarket this happens...

I moved last Saturday, and things were okay. Lox is not herself, but that was expected. I moved her to the new location after everything was moved to the new place. She was confined to a room with her litter box, scratcher, cave, and food before and afterwards. Things were going pretty okay considering everything. She stopped becoming ravenous about food, but she was eating properly and using the box fine. She just seemed more cautious about everything than usual. However, she's been a lot more affectionate towards me.

Then comes today. Fireworks. Lots of it. Air horns, lots of those too. We also had maintenance come today, ugh. So today I fed two of my raw meals (breakfast and lunch), sprinkled with bonito flakes. No problem. She eats slower but like I said earlier- it was expected. Tonight though, she didn't try to eat her meal at all. Even with toppers. She would eat some freeze-dried chicken out of my hand but not a lot of it.

Immediately, I rush to the nearest convenience store and get some Fancy Feast and chicken baby food. I give her a teaspoon of the Fancy Feast and she eats it. Later on, I mixed some raw with the Fancy Feast but she was having none of it. I also gave her a spoon full of baby food- She lapped that up, but the second spoon full she was done.

I left her some Fancy Feast in the [open] closet, so she can eat some later. She's sleeping right now on top of the bed next to me.

What can I do to get her to keep eating? I'm thinking keep feeding her stinky canned cat McDonalds and eventually mixing her raw grounds again.

Feliway is coming in a day or two, and I'll be getting Rescue Remedy tomorrow first thing.

I do have to take her to the vet during the next two months for boosters- I am worried though because Lox has already gone through a lot of stress as it is.

Any suggestions besides the ones I mentioned? Guh.

It sounds like she's eating, just not as much right? I have a cat that spooks at any and everything. I've tried several things, but ultimately what has worked each time was to just carry on with the daily routine. Sit in my recliner, TV at a normal sound level, same ole same ole. After a little while Julie will come, she'll jump up into my lap and let out a few dramatic meows to tell me how awful whatever was and I pet her for a second then let her make her spot and lay down. Trying to hunt her down to make her feel better hasn't worked, and it didn't ever work for another neurotic cat I used to have.

I think having things smell familiar will help Lox too. Wore a shirt to work? Does she like to nap on the couch? Leave that unwashed shirt on the couch.

Turns out she did eat while I was asleep, I woke up to find that there was no dinner in the bowl.

I've been just sticking with my daily routine. She seems like she has some separation anxiety since we had to confine her while we did the move. Although I'd come visit a few times to spend time with her during the move, whenever I came back from a trip (we had 3 moving trips in a day) she'd be crying. Ugh, I felt terrible but it was the better option.

I gave her breakfast today- Raw ground chicken mix and some Sheba tuna cat food on top. Surprisingly, she ate around the Sheba! It takes a while for her to finish it- Usually she'll scarf within five minutes.

Although there's a lot of bedding that's purposely unwashed that I leave in the bedroom, I'll see if I can find something extra smelly.

I hope she'll be back to herself in a couple weeks. It's been crazy for us humans in the household too!

Sounds like she's going to be fine. You did the right things for the move, she needed to be safe even if she didn't understand what was going on.

Glad to hear she's back to preferring raw!

Lunch was not as successful. It may be the heat too outside, even though we have air conditioning. I'll just keep sticking to the schedule.

Another update. Mutton with Fancy Feast. She did the digging motion around it, I put some bonito dust on it and she did eat most of it. She still ignores her favorite Whole Life chicken...

I'm not really concerned about the amount she's eating, but what concerns me is that she is being extra picky now and won't even touch her favorite freeze-dried snacks.

I've never dealt with moving with a cat so this is all new to me.

She's stressed out.  Have you tried a Feliway diffuser and/or Rescue Remedy or Spirit Essences (they have several that are appropriate)?

On my original post, I mentioned that the Feliway is coming in (which I have now.) I have been using Rescue Remedy today.

She's actually doing a lot better now, thanks all. :)
